I loved Destiny 1 raids a whole whole lot, but...
This raid is absolute trash in comparison to Destiny 1 raids (exception Crota's End). It is overly complex for no reason whatsoever (mainly due to bugs and RNG), just so the designers (I'm assuming) can feel high and mighty when earning their paychecks (hey guys, look how hard I made this, give me money because I'm smart). The Raid story also holds no story value like the originals. Seriously, it was all for nothing, he was a stupid -blam!-ing robot. At least we got to kill (supposedly) the Taken King!
The Raid is, plain and simply put, not fun in the slightest (except for underbelly exploration the first time and maybe the gauntlet), and the rewards are shit. Vault of Glass, King's Fall, Wrath and even the Crota Strike were better than this nonsense (specifically VoG, which is my fave forever).
The Raid needs severe changes immediately as it stands.
They need to bring in better raid designers the next go around.
I want to add, with the way PvP is now and with how crappy progression and investment design are, I don't see this game lasting very long like vanilla D1 did without some major changes on both the game and the development end. At least vanilla D1 was actually fun in a lot of different activities, and had some semblance of progression (like Grimoire).
Final Note, not having Customs, Rumble and only two PvP playlists is inexcusable.

Complex? Your brain capacity must not even reach a whole number.
-
You're right, it's 2.4
-
Edited by Nicewander: 9/19/2017 6:10:12 PMIs 0 a whole number? Does butter go to toast if chair flies airplane? Brain hurt urgh plz be my dad
-
See I already can't take you seriously. This is too overly complex but the destiny 1 raids are fine? No. Oryx was the most overly complex fight to grace a raid. Gett your facts straight before you b!tch.
-
You call shooting at Crota to down him and then hitting him with a sword is complex mechanics? Unreal.
-
Did someone say crota was complex?
-
No that sounds pretty simple
-
But oryx actually had fun mechanics.
-
You say fun others say tedious. This guy version is overly complex. It's just a matter of opinion.
-
Edited by Nicewander: 9/19/2017 5:53:18 PMOryx was not complex, and if the Calus fight was less buggy, it would be quite similar. It was smart and fun to a degree, and rewarded good gunplay skill. This raid is pure RNG luck in the dog part, and Calus has so many -blam!-ing bugs it's unreasonable. Get your facts straight? You seem to be missing the point all together like all other Bungie fanboys with sticks in their butt. As well, it's not the Calus parts that are complex, it's the other garbage areas of the raid. The mechanics are fine, but the level design and the sight line and lanes are ridiculously designed in mostly all areas except for the underbelly.

No you're not haha. Write out how to do one phase of damage for calus and one for oryx. Which one is vastly longer? It's oryx bro. Common jump on pads counter clockwise while two others help kill ogres before the take orbs of light, while someone else runs a freaking obstacle course to get a glowing ball. All just to slam a glowing knight, kill him and the finally shoot oryx in the chest. Oh wait then you get transfered to the effing darkrealm and kill a normal size oryx.and that's one phase bro. Simplified a ton, and you have to do it without a hitch 4 times. Vs calus which is kill adds, do call outs and kill correct psion, then do damage! And you can one phase it ! Bro open your eyes dude
-
Edited by Nicewander: 9/19/2017 6:00:17 PMBro open your eyes dude? And Logan, I am in the right here, as the majority of the community on both Reddit and this forum (as awful as it is sometimes) agree pretty much. You can troll your way through the mountain of comments, but nothing is going to change the fact that this raid is not good, and Bungie needs to be called out for it at some point.
-
Edited by Loginthebog: 9/19/2017 6:05:58 PMNo no no. Haha. I don't care if people don't like it , I get that. I understand it's difficult, that it has glitches. I understand and agree. But your misguided notion that calus is more complex, has more steps, or is as intricate in how you do damage than the kings fall raid boss is absolute garbage.
-
Edited by Nicewander: 9/19/2017 6:11:42 PMI am saying the complexity is on par with Oryx, it is the bugs that are causing the needless awfulness. Psions spawning in and immediately using their uplift ability? I mean who thought that was a good game design idea?
-
Immediately killing an add as it spawns is not anything new. And bugs do not equal complexity
-
Edited by Nicewander: 9/19/2017 6:15:28 PMNot it isn't new, but having them immediately spawn and use an ability that instantly -blam!-s you is new. You're right, bugs don't equal complexity, at least they shouldn't if Bungie would have properly tested the raid before release. Go figure right?
-
Yup also crouching and walking backwards will negate psion grenade 75 percent of the time
-
That 25% happens more often than the 75%. Just like Sex Panther.
-
-
Haha it's just a fact that there was more to do in the oryx fight than the calus fight.
-
At least the Oryx fight was fun, but to each their own.

Ya doooooooooood
