This will be latency related. The tower is no different than a PvP match, and there are generally a LOT more people in the Tower than any PvP map. If you see black and still hear audio, I suggest you just wait. It is trying to load all the artifacts and details for each character on the "map" before it renders. Eventually it will either load and you can continue, or it will disconnect with a network error. It can take a little while to timeout if it's still detecting some form of data transfer. As for the gunsmith voice, I think the system piggy backs your data to an already existing player in the tower (kind of acting as the P2P host) and then puts you in your own character once it has it all loaded. One time I had very bad packet loss (didn't realize it at the time) and I seemed to spawn into another player's character. I was not in control, but I was moving around with another name on my tower screen, over by the gunsmith. Then a few seconds later I teleported to my own character at the spawn point. It was strange at the time. I should have hit record after but I didn't. Once I cleared up the packet loss issue, I never saw it happen again. [b]In summary, it's probably better to let it either load or fail on it's own. Quitting in the middle could cause improperly cached data that maintains issues later. [/b] I would recommend resetting all network devices including any switches etc. Then hard reset the console and clear the cache. If you can test the network on your console after that, make sure you are seeing low latency and zero packet loss.... then try playing again.

I'm getting this a few times a day. All I hear is the gunsmith babbling over and over, which I don't know why because the spawn point is not even that close to him... Edit: That's twice in a half hour now, both times coincidentally (?) I was traveling from Titan- two different characters.

I get many disconnects when trying to visit the Traveler. It usually requires about 3-4 attempts before I am successful. Sometimes even 5 or 6. It is very frustrating! Occasionally, I also get disconnected while at the Traveler.

Same problem here.
