D1 year 3 I could throw a scatter grenade kill a small mob, heal from said grenade kills, and trigger a buff that basically instantly regens my grenade. I could spam abilities and destroy my enemies with ease and feel good about it because I got a build for myself I felt comfortable with. I can't do that anymore. I can still get my grenades back relatively quickly on warlock void class but its not the same: throw, kill, regen, and repeat. Now I have to constantly kill enemies to keep boosting my grenade regen. I will say the good thing about the new setup is I can keep a chain going and perpetually heal myself, but it doesn't feel as good as lobbing grenades lefting right while screaming, "EXPLOSIONS!" like Mr. Torgue from borderlands

  • Instead now you can just walk up to that small mob, and punch them all to death because none of them pose any threat to actually killing you. AI mechanics are one thing and one thing only. Walk in a straight line and fire. The first time I played the beta and I was thinking to myself when did the Cabal turn into thrall? I then thought well maybe the beta wasn't tweaked fully to implement coherent AI. Well, nope, that's what this game is. The only enemy that sometimes resembles coherent AI is Captains with their blink around corners but they don't do that very often anyway. Hell half the time they'll just stand there trying to go toe to toe with you and lose miserably trying.

  • Remember when minotaurs were something to fear?

  • The smartest thing I've seen the AI do is the Captains will run away when their health and shields are low and get behind cover. This only happened back when I was a low level and I havn't seen that behavior since. The cabal seem to just jump around and bumble their way towards you. The AI need to be reworked to be more tactical. The only enemy that should just walk like zombies towards you are vex. (Despite the fact they are an intelligent robotic race, I do not get why they just walk around like zombies but that's a whole lore rant.) I'd love to see the enemies be more dangerous. In Halo on heroic or Legendary if you got stuck with a plasma grenade you were done. In Destiny you can stand on a grenade and maybe lose 10% of your health. I wanna see more creative ways to defeat enemies. Going back to Halo again, if you are with friends against hunters. You gotta bait and move to flank them. Here with just about every enemy you can just shoot in head and kill.

I remember being shocked when the Hive, the HIVE were shying away from me and not leaving half the stage, turned into shooting into a barrel pretty quickly after that...

  • Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed how absolutely putrid the AI is in this game. I literally walk up to walkers now and punch or shotgun them, depending on my mood, because there isn't even threat of a walker killing you. In D1 they at least had some kind of AoE attack which didn't allow for it, but in this game it's obviously missing.

Thought you were being sarcastic. Whoops. Sorry... I'm on the defensive. But yea, that kind of stuff was fun to mess around with in PvE.
