Nothing to desire or chase - BORED

How did you muck up the one of the best parts of D1? Two weeks in and I have seen most of the weapons and armor available, and non of matters. Sure I can add a mod but can anyone really tell the difference? I can't and unless the mod gives me 5 light I don't even bother equipping one. The nightfalls are REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BORING. A shooting action game that has you run past all the shooting and action is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The team that came up with that lazy idea should be ashamed and embarrassed. I'm so disappointed in the end game content and the loot overall. As a gamer I don't think I had spent so many hours playing a game before D1 but if D2 doesn't change drastically I don't see myself lasting much longer. My clan mates and I have only made it through half the raid and it was so boring that nobody is even trying to finish it. You guys created a beautiful game with great gun play but once again you made game design decision that are baffling to say the least. Do you have people testing the game and giving any feedback at all before you release the game? A grind game without anything to grind for is going to fail. When every legendary and exotic can be obtained by casually playing for 2 weeks then what is left, especially when subsequent drops mean nothing? I'm sure you and your masters at Activision are pleased with the purchase numbers but in the long run, unless you have more frequent events, new raids added at a consistent and frequent rate, a change to knightfalls and a complete overall of the loot, this game will be stale within a month. It is frustrating because you have made a game that has good gunplay, cool environments, an interesting premise but the execution is limp. Somebody is making terrible decisions and until that weak link is removed you will continue to miss your mark. I'm going to take a break (I can't believe I'm already at this point) and go back to the games that were only meant as distractions until this game came out, what a shame. Edit: I forgot to mention the new weapon layout is really boring too. I play PVP but I always felt like it was more of an add on rather than the core of the game. This new layout makes sense for your new PVP but makes PVE so boring. Seriously, who is making these decision and did you even interview them before they got the job? We are supposed to be super powered space wizards but now my abilities take an eternity to recharge, supers might as well be nonexistent for how long it takes to charge and that sense of speed & mobility from D1 are gone. You took ice cream and turned it into vegan frozen yogurt, sure it's better for you but it is objectively worse. Edit: I have been calling the nightfalls, knightfalls. That is my mistake but in my defense we are space wizard zombie knights, so Knightfall could still work (sarcasm).

  • Sadly all of this is true. It won't matter though, the game is done with and all the content for the next year are done as well. There is nothing we can do to fix the game at this point. GG.

  • EXACTLY what I knew would happen. Them focusing on the casual players (since they lost the majority of their players in Destiny 1 within the first year) and no putting any effort into the end game killed this game for my clan. It's the same boring crap cycle of a nightfall, raid and trials, that's it for end game (anyone who says lost sectors or public events are end game is out to lunch). One more trophy to the platinum (the trophies are also lazy and lacking) and we will be moving onto other games for the foreseeable future as there is literally no reason to keep playing this. I have been lucky, but I am already only missing 2 exotic weapons (prospector and the raid shotgun) and have most of the other exotics as well already (and most of them are garbage compared to D1).

      • True, the way rng was designed indeed made it addictive as hell. I remember when legendaries in itself (back at vanilla) was a luxury. I'd spend hours getting crucible marks to buy some sweet crucible armours from Shaxx. And because of how it was getting exotics that had powerful (un-nerfed) perks and how infrequent it dropped, getting it was a real reward. Tis a pity, Destiny 2 has a beautiful shell, but lacks a beautiful soul.

      • We were told that they want us to complain there's to much story, where is this story past the 5-7 hour campaign. Even cod has the same length campaign. There's no grind, no replay value to the game you rank up any faction a couple of times in an hour and have all the weapons. Public events were nice the first couple of runs but got really boring really quickly. I did say a few months ago that we were going to get a reskinned game but this is even worse than d1 and I really didn't think they could make it any worse. The laziness and greed shows more than ever in d2 and I'm very disappointed in myself for believing all their p.r bs again. I assure you I won't be falling for it when they try to hype the dlc, damage is done now

      • I read post after post and you know what they all have in common? Not enough loot for a looter shooter. People obviously play this game to shoot the piñata and watch all the good stuff come raining down. Seems to me they should have doubled down on the amount of weapons/armor/exotics currently in the game. No more loot no more shoot :(

      • Don't worry, Bungie will make good on those mistakes and gutted mechanics by selling them back to us in the next 3 DLC's

With 75% - 80% of the exotic drops you get being duplicates, I've had a terrible time getting anything. It's not like it really changes much because the exotics are mostly pretty uninspired now, so it's hard to get exited about farming for them. Still, though, the struggle is real.

        • Chase max light. There hasn't been a specific weapon that makes a real difference to chase since year one Destiny. Progression is all that matters.

What I said recently in a post. About what the game lacks #1: NPC & Interactions With the Player Character now a silent protagonist, this is the perfect moment to introduce NPC conversation and interactions like we have seen in Elder Scrolls and previous Fallout games. Give the player another avenue to learn about the world while also establishing relationships with characters. Make the Ghost a character we can interact with. Who we can ask questions. Who we can develop a connection with. No one cared about the Last City because they never had any opportunity to talk with them. RPGs make sure that their worlds are Full of characters for players to interact with, both large and small, that make it feel alive. #2: Side Quests This goes back to adding more NPCs. Adding a plethora of side quests to the various NPCs gives the players reasons to explore the environments. They can be tiny things like; “Please find my Spouse/Child/Pet”, “Please check out this dungeon”, “Please escort me to a location”, etc. little things that flesh out the world. But also having Long storylines that don't pertain to the main story is very important as well. Side Quests also serve as a great way to flesh out the world. #3: Wildlife Destiny takes place 1000 years in the future. I'm sure with nature taking over, and who knows what was done in the golden age, that there are plenty of fauna for players to see running around. Deer, Elk, Wild Dogs, Birds, maybe a bear, etc. The world is a big place, fill it. Just like NPCs, open world games feel empty without wildlife. #4: character creation I would think that when you take advantage of creating a sequel and implement a better character creation. Simply put we need more options when creating a character. We have very few faces to choose from and we can't customize facial features such as, the nose, ears, mouth, eyes, chin, cheekbones, eyebrows, etc. Also where are the beards? There's a character we meet in destiny 2 who has a beard, but we can’t get one? #5: Lore This is the Big One. Like other Story heavy games, have a lore codex that players can look at in the game. Have it start out with any basic information the player is curious about, then have it update with each new finding, encounter, and as you progress through the story. Also put Books, Journals, Audio files, Drawings, etc. things that players can check out. Fill the ruins of humanity with lore about the Golden Age. Having the option to ask the Ghost questions about the world, would be a great way to introduce and immerse players into the universe. But Make sure that lore can be talked about through NPC interaction. (The Fact that DOOM has a better lore system is troubling, considering story doesn’t matter in that game at all.) This one is more of a nitpick #6: Camera Give the players the option to move between first and third person perspective. Don't make it so they have to use first in combat and third in social. Forcing different camera perspectives takes away immersion and leaves the player with less options. That's my take on what the game is missing and would really have made it one of the next Great Games. I think that Bungie really should have gone all out and overhauled the game when they had a chance.

            • Destiny 2 is a great game, until you get to it's endgame. I can't place my finger on it but it feels like Destiny 2 is missing a lot of minor things that Destiny 1 had, things that would keep the playerbase coming back for more. The OP is right, I don't have anything to chase in Destiny 2. Even at its absolute worst, I knew I could grind Destiny 1 for Vanguard marks and Strange coins so that I could buy Vanguard gear from the Vendors and Exotics from Xur so that I could get as close to max light as possible ( since I could not do the Raids since I was a solo player ). In Destiny 2, the Vendor don't actually sell anything, they only give out loot as rewards and all of it is powerful than what I already have. Destiny 2's Exotics also feel very meh, there's nothing Super exciting to chase after.

              • What i have just experienced is, i have got my level 20 warlock up to 281 or something like that and i really do not see any reason to play any more than 5 public events per week for the Flashpoint weekly. The guided games for Nightfall is utterly useless, while it is beta, i will try it when its not in beta anymore, but so far its just like a strike....players are quiet, they rush to the end, never rez and then just ragequit when they get killed because they stupidly rush ahead too far, ignoring all the enemies. So, i will not be doing Nightfall or the Raids in this game either, just like on Destiny, i just don't know anyone and the clan i am in, just don't ask me if i want to go or not, they just do it and i get left out.....in the first game, i just didn't know anyone to do them, but in the second one, the clan i am in, just don't ask me at all. In the end, the game is just......boring without a storyline to do. There is no incentive to roll another 2 characters, because there are no choices in the game and its pretty much identical as the first character, except for the different abilities, which are not enough of a difference to warrant a second or third character. In Essence......I am bored of the game already. The story was fun and enjoyable, but is indeed a play once. I only played Destiny for nearly a year because i played with my brother, but since he has a clan, he plays with them, which has left me to play on my own. Oh well, off to other games until the expansions come out in a 1-2 years time.

The adventures were wasted in the play through. They should have locked out everything 3 power above your light level like they did early in D1. Strikes were also left for nothing because I completed missions 20 power over my level. I died at 143 power to a recommended 180 power boss mission and completed said mission without another death. D1 would have red question marks and made me do that mission later. Bungie let players level way to fast by removing the difficulty of high power AI. As I've stated bungie sucks at quality control!

Yes I know that this grind is nothing compared to d1. My gjallahorn grind only ended when xur sold it again in taken king i believe... first time xur sold it shortly after launch i didnt buy it because i thought that it would be crap and how wrong have i been lmao.

                  • D1 was trash! Who the heck cares that you got your exotic already? D1 objectively had less content at launch and it involved grinding the same boring arse shite in game. D2 is a welcome away from that.
