How many Hunters are Gunslinger Main?

I wonder, how many Hunters are playing as Gunslinger main? I'm playing a lot these days, around the Wilds for Public Heroics Events, doing Strikes over and over again ecc but I see so few Gunslingers. like... 1 every 30 Hunters? Sometimes I also analyze players profiles on the Tower and, again, no Gunslingers. I suppose that probably this Subclass is mostly used for PvP? I'm not really into Crucible, so I don't know the situation over there. I tried the Gunslinger Subclass in PvE and I have to say that it's not that great, imho (but, probably it' just me, probably I'm not into his mechanics, I dont know?). The melee is probably the worst of all the three Subclasses and also the weaker. The Explosive Knife is pretty weak, the explosion area is very small, it can hit only enemies that are very close. The pure Throw Knife has a horrible range, but yes, it's pretty easy to do a precision kill with it 'cos it flies pretty very stright. The Grenades... well, I think that the best one is the Laser Grenade, but again, this is probably mostly ued in PvP and not PvE. The damage is anyway pretty disappoiting... About the Super, I tried the Way of the Sharpshooter. Pretty disappointed... the Gunslinger's Trance should grant a cooldown bonus every precision kill, but actually isn't that great. I didn't find so much difference in charging the Super with or without the Trance activated also making precision kills one after one. I've red a lot of comments saying that the Gunslinger is now a Orbs God, but I don't see how. The Line ‘Em Up + Crowd-pleaser combo can grant 7 Orbs IF you can make 3 Precision Shots with the Golden Gun that is not always easy and the damage isn't that great if compared with the damage that you can make with a Theater and DPS or with some Jump+R2 Spam with the Arcstrider... Also, no more Nighthawk 1 Hit Kill... so... wow... I repeat: probably it's just me, I don't know, probably it' just me that still don't understand how use it correctly. Anw, how many of you are using as main the Gunslinger?

  • Gunslinger is actually fun in pve imo, of course you'll get yourself into some sticky situations but only on the down time that you have to reload. The way of the outlaw supports a more solo player style only really using the super as a "oh crap I'm surrounded," or a mini boss is charging you situation. With chain of woe being a nice combination because you only then run into a problem when mini bosses charge you, or when you have to reload. Way of the sharpshooter is fun in solo pve imo because of the throwing knife kills. If you can chain a couple of headshots and finish with consistent throwing knife headshots then you'll get your super fairly quickly. Then your super allows you to take out almost anything with a precision hit box.

  • Not so much for pve but goldy is all I really use for pvp. Scatter grenade and the three shot goldy tree. I mean who wouldn't want a super than can one shot from range?

  • Gunslinger will always be my comfort class. It also helps that I prefer End-Game PvE and have Nighthawk. It melts Calus's Shield (Drop about 1/4 of his health then wait to pop GG until ~x50, Shoot on ~x70 and youll ensure your team has an x80+ stack for Damage Phase) the only other Times im Not GG is to use Bow for PvP and the Royal Bathhouse and To run Arcstrider max mobility with the Mida combos to go fast around the patrols, looking like Usain Bolt.

  • That's probably going to be my main subclass for my hunter when I make it. I'm gonna love that fiery six shooter

  • Since D1. D2 made Gunslingers fantastic for PvP/PvE. Also... Nighthawk is still the single highest DPS burst in the game.

  • I mained gunslinger for most of Destiny 1, then nightstalker came out. I still only used gunslinger in PvP. I enjoy nightstalker in PvE. The invisibility grenades are still great for reviving.

    • Since D1 beta. Way of the Sharpshooter fits my playstyle perfectly, although I miss having both Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance (which has been removed completely).

    • I main the six-shot golden gun exclusively, in PvE and PvP. It's pretty easy to kill the whole enemy team with it in PvP if you use it at the right time, and I use it to kill upper red-bar ads in PvE, centurions, captains etc... Using it reminds me of the Last Word, with its full auto and cool animation

    • Actually you can make 9 orbs. but it requires a specific setup of adds to do so. and you have to kill each add. Even if the orb generation was the same as other classes gunslinger is capable of creating orbs without adds. Which is useful. The precision kills giving super energy in reality only gets your super back slightly faster. The point of it's existence is it gives you a bit more control over WHEN you get the super. What do you mean nighthawk doesn't OHK now? Explosion knife is more about utility than damage. in pve it can stagger mobs and in pvp it's about trying to flush someone out or finishing someone off who just ducked back around their corner due to low health. Also useful for nailing someone who over commits to chasing you by throwing it at your feet or a wall. Best gunslinger nade has always been incendiary (except the one time in D1 when it got bugged on DoT) trips are niche. They had some popularity back when they could stick people. they are not bad by no means. But incendiary has better damage and more versatility due to bounce and DoT damage. I personally main arc strider in D2. I use nightstalker in my fire team when my dedicated NS friend is not with us. I like gunslinger a lot and it was my preferred sub in D1. However due to the longer cooldowns in D2 and slinger lacking anyway to really reduce those where as arc strider has several ways well.. Once I get nighthawk I might use it in pve more. and as far as pvp goes i'll probably stick to strider for casual play. But IB and trials will probably be slinger since it's a lot harder to be aggressive in those modes.

    • Im not too into the gunslinger.. My friend however mains it, and he likes the way of the sharpshooter, I believe thats whats it called.. its the bottom set with the three shots instead of the six shooter. Gunslinger feels more for PvE then it does for PvP. In D1 it was used in PvP to shut down other supers, but it no longer can one shot other supers, unless you are using the 3 shot and get a headshot. Its pretty weak if you ask me, at least in PvP. Its great for PvE however since the three shot one makes a ton of orbs. I however main the arcstrider and lean more towards the tether for orbs since I have the orpheus rig boots, which make the tether alot of fun to use.

    • it's always been my favorite, my boo. and i basically never used it D1 in PvE, since it actually can grant orbs now it's very usable, plus if you luck into a celestial nighthawk you can nearly take 1/3 of a bosses health with one shot. it's still weird that it's a subclass that's now more powerful in PvE than PvP
