Bungie, please add the ability to load an area as a private instance, instead of forcing us to get dropped in with a bunch of randoms. This already happens with respawn restricted zones, so why not just allow us to load a full map as a private instance? That way we can do things that are normally quite difficult when playing public, say for example soloing public events.
I suggest you can trigger it via your director when in an area, by clicking a button on the map that says something like "Lock down area". Once you do that, you get transferred into a private instance, which removes all people from your game except for fireteam members. That way, you can do activities without interference from people not in your fireteam.
To toggle it off again, you can press the button again, now saying "Unlock area", which when pressed will load you back into an instance with people in it.
A little bit of an explanation of instances in this spoiler.
To any of you who don't know what an instance is, it is a game world which has players in it. For example, when you cross an area border with randoms in this game, and they don't appear with you, that is because they were joined to a different instance than you. Sometimes instances can be peer-to-peer, in the case of an area of which everyone in it is connected to the same host, e.g. a darkness zone. Way more of peer-to-peer instances can exist, because they're not hosted on the server itself, allowing for the server to handle other things instead. Sometimes even public instances are peer-to-peer, which I believe is the case in D2 since when it attempts to connect to the D2 servers, the game still runs smoothly, except for item management.
