Sentinel was well-executed in D2

I saw a lot of people going into the beta expecting it to be the end-all subclass. It being a lot to the table while being well balanced with the others. Making individual Subclasses spectacular while managing to make them all appealing options gives me hope for D2's class balancing

  • It was the only subclass that didn't make me feel like a kid being held by his head at arms length by his bigger brother. In D1 the only subs I don't play are Sunstriker and Bladedancer. In D2 I only enjoyed the Sentinel subclass. Felt like a leap backwards

    • Not gonna lie, I've been critical of Destiny a lot lately. But I do like the Sentinel subclass and is looking forward to playing it more. Biggest problem so far is the [b]one[/b] shield throw...two if you can stretch it.

      • I really like the idea of having limited shield throws. I just think they need to up the aim assist on those things. I had quite a lot of trouble trying to nail enemies with that thing.

          • In the hands of similarly skilled players, sentinel stands head and shoulder above the other subclasses. There's really no comparison because the super can shut down multiple other supers and is easy as hell to get kills with. If we're comparing it to other supers, the only one that can compete is dawnblade and that's only because of the silly gimmick of infinite flight dodge.

            • Maybe this is just my opinion on what destiny should be, but I think each class should only have one roaming/damage super. I want each super to be ultra unique. Like a titan that quintuples his health on activation, and maybe in pve it also makes mobs attack you. I want stuff like that so I can team play and organize. Even in pvp it could have great use. Just give it slightly different effects and boom. You got a special class with special supers. I'm just not a fan of all the supers being so similar. :/

              • I thought it sucked. I ended up using striker the whole time. Will probably use shielder in pve and bubble/striker in pvp

                  • I loved the Sentinel. The added utility of being able to go on attack or defense with the same super was really cool. One shield throw makes it kind of meh offensively for bosses but the WoD and the Block saved my butt more than a few times in the beta. It might even make me want to be a Titan when the full games come out. [spoiler]probably not, Voidwalker was amazing...[/spoiler]

                          Aside from the skill tree path that makes no sense? Ever wonder what the point is to have to unlock your overshield to then later unlock an extended overshield? Basically unlocking all 4 perks is just unlocking your standard skill path. So, why is it an extended overshield? It should just be your overshield. This is what happens when Bungie pulls old perks and doesn't let you chose.

                            • A seperate offensive and defensive choice all in on sub-class. so balanced. I can't wait to see where the other classes get a dual super within one sub-class, should be interesting...

                            • With magnetic grenades no longer killing, and most abilities being redundant, that subclass is essentially worthless for the first 90% if the match. The super is very well balanced, but melee still has shorter range than the warlock one and suppressor grenades are only truly effective against supers. Which we get one of per game ATM, and I don't care if they changed it until we see that change because the auto rifle buff is still present in my mind. It is strong for 60 seconds, when you get power ammo and a bubble, or when you manage to suppress a single super and your grenades come back minutes after the rest are used, but overall striker is far better for PVP. That is far more true in D2 than it is now, where defender has so many tools to do well now and far less in D2, all of which far less effective.

                                • The hit detection on it was REALLY sketchy. Sometimes you'd absolutely hit someone (The hit sound would play) and they would take no damage. Sometimes there's NO WAY you hit someone, but you'd get kill credit.

                                • defender finally got buffed (3 years the less favorite for pvp, and the lowest by far K/D in pvp as showed on bungos chart), I will enjoy it, being my main subclass.

                                • 'Balancing' is killing the franchise. We have worse skill trees, loadouts, weapons, abilities, etc than in D1. All thanks to Bungie's retarded focus on wannabe MLG PvP players.
