Burned and buried (Calling all true Destiny fans)

The Bungie.net forums, heart of the black garden that is the Destiny community. Before I make my case I want it to be known that I AM a Destiny player, I know this game, and I've been here since the beginning. I destroyed the heart of the black garden, I overcame Atheon , I defeated Crota, I survived the Prison of Elders, I killed Oryx, I ended Aksis. I stuck with this game through the hype, the disappointment, the hope, the dry seasons, the grind... and I lov.. loved Destiny. I Pumped Hundreds of Dollars AND hours in to this game, in the hopes that Bunge and Activision would see the immense, unprecedented potential that this game held and use the money that I and millions of other dedicated fans gave to them to crate a game that would rival any other that came before it. A game that took everything we loved about destiny and turned it up to 11. A game that would take everything we thought we knew about destiny and turn it on its head. But now, I find myself in shock, in horror at what this franchise is becoming. The same feeling that I had when I brought destiny home, played it for the first time, and realized that is was nothing like Bungie promised it would be. I never thought that I would ever find myself saying this... but... I'm done with Destiny... and here's why. May 18th 2017: Me, my brother, and my father all gathered around our computer screen, anxious and worried. After a cinematic trailer that promised no change and no innovations or evolution to the game except "More Lewt" and advertised a $100 pre-order before we had seen gameplay of any kind, my unbridled hype quickly turned to cautious optimism and skepticism. The Livesteam starts, I'm at the edge of my seat, Hoping that I would see something that would reignite the hype within my soul. The gameplay starts, and the first thing I see is a guardian holding a rifle, and the first thought that came into my mind was "why are they showing Destiny 1 gameplay?" then my heart sinks "this isn't destiny one". After this initial shock of seeing the first Destiny with an ENB* being advertised as a squeal subsided, iI noticed something odd about the game. The animations, enemies, and some physics all look and behave in the same way as the first destiny, Even the melee animations look almost identical to the previous game. I then realized what destiny was becoming; a watered down, "same every year", cash-grab much in the vain of Call of Duty. Then things only go down hill from there. At this point my hype and faith in this game have been burned and buried, now all I have left is raw objectivity. I now look at this game, not as a Guardian, but as a gamer. I don't need to sit here and tell you how Pre-ordering this game is Genuinely hurting gaming as a whole. I don't need to tell you that all our time and money was spent on a game that was ultimately a beta. I don't need remind you that Bungie is already advertising not one, but TWO expansions before the game has even launched. You don't need me to remind you that Destiny 2's story was intended to be the "Forge of Gods" expansion. Because you already know. And if these shady, borderline lazy business practices isn't enough to convince you to want to make a change. If this game isn't worth enough for you to put your foot down, clench your fist and say NO to Bungie and Activision warping, mutating, and perverting Destiny into the next Call of Duty... Then you are not a true gamer, nor a true Destiny fan. But if this game is worth it, if you want Destiny to go down in history alongside games like Halo, Skyrim, Fallout, half-life, Mass-Efect, World of Warcraft, and GTA. You have SHOW not tell Bungie how we feel. And the best way to show any Movie Studio, Game developer, or corporate company that we mean business, is through our wallet. So this is an appeal to the destiny community, we have two options: Option 1: Don't pre-order Destiny 2 in any capacity. Pre-order culture is a means for greedy companies like Activision to get money out of their costumers before they can see rather or not the product they're paying for is worth the price being asked. No more. Option 2: Wait for reviews. I don't think people realize what a blessing critics are for the gaming community. It is there JOB to insure that you spend your money on a product that is worth the price. Don't let Ad campaigns and artificial hype make your decision for you. Stay hesitant and make an informed purchase. Watch reviews, read articles, know the ins-and-outs of the quality of this game before you spend your hard-earned cash. To be honest, if everybody did that we wouldn't be approaching the gaming crash like we are now. Don't let this Topic Die, I encourage the entire destiny community to share their thoughts. Get this message to Bungie's ears, copy and past this in any Destiny or gaming forums you know of. These days it's not up to Developers to make a game great, it up to us, the community. We can't leave the future of this game in the hands of old men in board rooms who see us as nothing more than Benjamins. This game deserves better then that, and so do we. *ENB is a graphic mod that enhances post processing effects to make games look better graphically.

  • The problem is that the overall consumer base doesn't have all that high of standards and the newer generations of gamers that are introduced to these things don't know any better. It certainly doesn't help that the newer age of the Internet calls out any critical/harsh thinking as "toxic" or "entitled". There's honestly not much you can do besides to either enjoy it for what it is or stop paying/playing entirely.
