Depends on the kid and what they did. If they're purposely being a brat after you've told them several times not to, then I'm all for it. If it's a first time offense, then I would just tell them not to do whatever it is they did.

7 RepliesPeople need to realize that spanking isn't just abuse or just punishment. It depends entirely on context. Smacking your kids rear because you're mad is completely different than sending them to their room while you calm down, explaining to them why what they did was wrong, and then spanking them, then reaffirming that it is discipline and that you do indeed still love them. As with anything else, it can be abused.

There Is no bringing it back what you still do. When a child is doing something it knows not to, it does look back and realize what happens when it does something it's not suppose to. Somethings will seem to get useless after awhile. Timeouts, nose in the corner, being sent to bed, etc. All have the abilitly to be gradually adapted to. Sitting them down and talking to them helps in no way except them knowing we won't do anything about it except talk to them. Many kids are different in their own special way. Some are little angels, and some the comeplete opposite. You may have not been spanked as a child becuase you didn't need it. How you raise a child and how the child acts is 2 different outcomes of being a parent. You never know how one will act, but you know you can help them become better. Somethings these days just isn't how it use to be. People these days act foolish and careless of the people around them and society itself. With just a Little bit of sense given to them at a young age it could of affected them as a adult and parent.
