Accessing Groups via the Destiny Companion Mobile App after August 23rd 2017

As I read through the FAQ section of the Preparing for Destiny 2 help article I came across something that froze me in my tracks. It states that after August 23rd, 2017, Groups will no longer be accessible on the Destiny Companion Mobile App. This froze me because, as an admin of a group of more than 600 and a member of groups as large as 900 members, I can assure you most of us chat via the app. This change effectively closes our groups to the vast majority of our membership. I realize that Groups can be accessed through b.net with a mobile browser, but this is a difficult way to get there and awkward once you are there. I feel that this is an issue for every group that remains a group, regardless of size. Not being able to chat in groups via the mobile app will hit every group and hit them hard.

  • Recommendation is to utilize the app called Discord. It's quick, painless to sign up, and has a lot of the core functionalities for a lot of groups. Phoinix Gaming has multiple games across multiple consoles including PC with over 1,000 total members. Admin's are able to create their own discussions based on games and subtopics which makes it easy to keep track of things and people. It also is a lot easier since it's free and takes little space on someone's phone. I recommend that.
