Amount of things to repeat is not content.
To me, content is the duration you can play a game for without ever doing or seeing the same thing twice.
If patrols are still these little 5 minute loops with a few more repeatable objectives to do in them that rotate every week, that isn't really a PvE adventure or open world. I still want to be able to hop into my ship and go to that mountain way off in the distance to find a new set of enemies and quests there. I want a planet to feel like a planet, not my neighborhood that i've seen millions of times.
Here's to hoping that by Destiny 6 they'll have that figured out. Until then, it's just Borderlands with world quests and less weapon loadouts.

Based off of what you said, you should check out GTA 5. Absolutely mind blowing. You see something, anywhere, you can get to that spot. Plane, bike, car, parachute, it doesnt matter. Ive been hitting it up lately

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 7/25/2017 6:13:48 PMWalking 10 yards into the water on The Farm and dying And even jumping up into the rafters (beam) on the very first part of the Beta level Put me In "turn back" territory! So don't hold much hope for going to the mountain (Yes, I remember 2012 E3, & also 2013, when Bungie promised huge open worlds and exploration .....finding places, creating patrol bases etc "planting the flag" )
-
If you want those things then go play a real MMO like WoW. You'll get the huge world to explore but shitty graphics no matter how good your rig is. Destiny isn't an MMO or an open world game. It's a shared world fps shooter. Bungie has been clear about that. How about instead of bitching that bungie won't make there vision of Destiny meet your gaming requirements. You go out and find a game that does. Or you could crawl out of your mom's basement and enjoy the real world with the rest of us filthy casuals.

The possibility of more of an open world in Destiny died when I hopped over the fence in the social space and got the turn back message.
-
open world can be a two edged sword, the pile of crap andromeda, was open world, with nobody in it, theree has to be a balance, its difficult , because everyone want s different things out of the game. Im not defending what we have seen so far, as to me the weapon loadout is shite, the jumps are shite and the grenades are shite, but lets hope if they collect all the shit most people here have been saying about the loadouts etc...and do some good with it, we might get a half decent game.
-
Skyrim size would be great I've owned it for years and there are still places I've never seen/been
-
True. A lot of games have very bad 'busy work' in an open world setting which does get tedious after a while. Perhaps Destiny 2 will have a greater open world vibe when we get to experience the full game, which is what I thought we were getting, probably incorrectly. I have to admit I would be prepared to forgo that in favour of fixes to its more glaring deficiencies lol
-
So basically no game ever has enough content then
-
Exactly, why is the expectations of people in this forum above any game that's ever been made lol
-
Because they have no life. If they would just get some quality pussy or workout they would be less concerned about bungie providing them with brand new content every minute of every hour. The worst part is they think ever content update should be free.

Skyrim

Skyrim is awesome and has a massive open wrold which is engaging and interesting throughout... It also took near enough 10 years to make.
-
So Take away the PvP resources Bung that lot into a new game "Guardians - The Crucible" And actually build the huge, varied, open and fully immersive PvE Destiny game that Bungie dreamed about - and told us all of at 2012 E3/2013 E3 Until they got into bed with Activision And went to the Darkside
-
Nobody wants that mate
-
Ya you're right and it's not online either.
-
My god an actual person on the forums who isn't toxic and can have a normal debate/discussion... Be gone devil your not welcome here!!!!

I take it you haven't play Elder Scrolls Online, which is a console game with a world probably 100 times bigger than Destiny, and hundreds of people in that world. It has its flaws too, but open world, diverse questing, and exploration is not among its flaws.
-
It's different though, when you go open world like that you lose something and that always tends to be the graphics and gameplay. I'd rather have Destinys amazing gameplay than a third person game like elder scrolls online, Skyrim was the shit but even that game didn't have Destinys replay factor.
-
Its not in the same league as destiny, I've played it enjoyed it but just based on time spent alone isn't a eighth of what destiny is
-
Objectively, it's much much bigger. Because your personal taste is in a simple loot shooter like Destiny, that doesn't provide anything for this argument of world size. There's nothing bad about making the PvE universe huge, and just because you don't want it doesn't mean nobody does, especially when that was the original version of the game that was pitched. Even now, they still discuss the "content in the open world" where I respond with "what open world? what's open about it?"
-
Well you let me know when you find that perfect game. Developers always have to make sacrifices, hell even with the witcher 3 CD Project Red sacrificed mediocre combat for an extremely immersive world. I promise, you can't name one game(that I've played) where I could not find some kind of negative about it.
-
Nothing wrong with the combat in The Witcher 3.
-
Compared to Shadow of Mordor or Arkham Knight, its pretty awkward. His point though, is that there are no perfect games. Even if you think you've found one, I can find someone else who will disagree. Because people want differetnt things, and play games for different reasons. To me, replayability is big. Huge linear, story driven games that take 80 hours to play may be fun to play through.....once. But I seldom play such games more than once. Whereas I've played through Diablo 3s several hour campaign more times than I care to remember.
-
Games with huge story lines that are incredibly repayable Dead Space 1&2, Skyrim, Shenmue 1&2, Res Evil (the 1996 version/Remaster) and MGS (1998) and MGS2 SoL
-
Witcher is amazing. I hope side quests in destiny 2 are like the witcher ones.
