Destiny Fiction Producers Writer's Contest

Art by Cyborg4281 The contest is now closed! Thank you to all that participated! The winner of the first DFP Writer's Contest is Morc35! Everyone did a great job, and it was a difficult decision for the judges, but Morc's story was the one we all agreed on. Once again, great work, everyone! To celebrate the release of the beta early access for Destiny 2, and to keep the interest up, Destiny Fiction Producers is hosting a contest for the community. The challenge is to write a Destiny short-story, down in the comment section below that best portrays your version of "a world without Light". The contest begins today, July 18th, and will end on August 18th. All submissions after that will not be included in the judging. All you have to do is post your story in the comments section, but remember, you have five weeks to write, edit, and post your work. The winner will be announced on August 20th, the following Sunday. The winner will receive a code for a $20 Playstation Store card or a $20 Xbox Store card as the prize. Rules: 1) This is a friendly competition, so keep the comments nice and/or constructive. 2) If you want to edit your story after it is posted, go ahead, just leave #Finished to let the judges know it is ready. 3) Please do not post your story multiple times. The judges will read them all. 4) Be original. If two stories seem identical, and it is difficult to confirm which was the original, then the judges will skip over both and move on to the next. Theme: Just as is the theme of Destiny 2, the theme of this contest is "A world without Light". It is up to you to interpret that. Prize: The winner will be announced on August 20th, and will receive a $20 gift card for Playstation or Xbox. Prize Redemption: I will private message the winner of the contest, and I will send one code for the aforementioned gift card based on personal preference. Keep fighting, Guardians

"A world without light" A Hunter, and his Ghost stood in a building that was halfway collapsed, firing upon a small group of Cabal forces. The Cabal dropped like flies, and the Hunter laughed maniacally as be rose from his crouched position, jumping over the destroyed windowsill from which he fired. His feet slammed onto the streets, kicking up Ash and dust as he walked towards the fallen troops. "Easy as pie." The the Hunter commented, his Ghost materializing and following behind its Guardian. "I don't know about that, Bavar." His Ghost commented, blinking its singular eye, as if in disapproval. "Listen-" The Hunter stopped, a searing pain in his chest as if his life force had drained from him. He stumbled, crashing his shoulder into a nearby building and slumping downwards Into a sitting position. "Bavar?" His Ghost turned its attention to the Guardian, before its once blue eye fell into black, falling to the ground with a small "thump." "Ghost?!?" The Hunter yelled, crawling over to the collapsed shell. "Ghost, wake up." The Hunter fell face first into the ground, his helmet being covered in dust. "Gho...." The Hunter fell silent, slipping into unconscious. He blinked furiously, not accepting whatever was coming. He pushed himself upwards with his arms, coming into a kneeling position. "NO!" He yelled, rising up to his feet and stumbling towards his Ghost. And then, the shot came. A bullet tore through the hunter's chest, followed by a second. Then a third. The Hunter fell to his knees, looking at his fallen Ghost and for the first time in a long time. He felt scared. Scared of death, scared of losing it all. His Ghost's eye flickered on and off before reactivating, floating into the air. "Bavar?" The Ghost asked, floating towards its Guardian. Then, the fourth shot came and the Ghost fell towards, a bullet hole in place of its eye. "NOOOOO-" The fifth shot silenced the Hunter, causing the Guardian to collapse forward with a hole in the back of his helmet. "You... Are... Not... Worthy." The voice of a Cabal Centurion said, walking over the once great Hunter. #Finished
