  • Looks like a badass pvp map to me. The design is like shores of time, where you have large sightlines on the outskirts of the map, but toward the center there's the small and tight areas shotgunners love to stick around. I would've never looked at this area in. PvP map standpoint but the addition of those caves were genius and I'm pleasantly surprised with the effort that went into the map.

  • In all fairness to bungie there is the possibility that this map existed before the social space. This is because ROI was thrown together in a few months as D2 was delayed so the development team could've used the map as a creation point for the social space.

  • I believe the map was designed for ROI and held back so there is more content for September. It's to big for a 4 v 4 map. Was designed for 6 v 6.

    Suppose so there's a possibility either way I guess. I just remember reading that D2 was well in development before RoI and that the only reason RoI existed was due to the delay. But I do however see what you mean about it being a tad big for 4v4 I guess we'll have wait till launch to see how it plays

  • Destiny 2 development started around 3 months after D1 was released (ie beginning of 2015) And then after The Taken King dropped, all the core development team moved to D2 development, leaving the "Live Team" (interns) to recycle existing content for Y2 and Y3. And yes Y3 should have really been Destiny 2, but due to the year delay for the game, the intern team... I mean Live Team created RoI.

  • The theory of Vostok being in D2 first makes sense then. Use some content from the next game in order to keep players occupied.

  • Agreed. A throwback map would denote the use of an almost identical map in a previous game. Since destiny only has one full release out, this isn't a "throwback". They just used the assets from the fellwinters peak area and made a couple tweaks to use for pvp. My guess is that (just like the EDZ and the inverted spire strike) this map was originally supposed to come out for D1 but they held it back to create more "new" content for D2.
