When The Taken King release and our guardians' voices were painfully absent from the cutscenes, I lost connection to my character. Obviously the time investment remained, but the emotional connection is gone.
I created a post (about a year ago) asking if our characters would have a voice in Rise of Iron. The answer to that is (sadly) no.
However, given the latest preview from IGN about the story in Destiny 2 and character investment, I want to renew this request and ask you to please voice our characters.

Come on bungie no voice for our guardian. Thats pathetic. Even in vanilla destiny we had a few lines here and there. Shit even the master chief speaks.

Its confirmed, Mute characters :/ I get the whole blank slate, but the characters spoke in D1 and it just feels weird and breaks immersion. When something is painfully missing from a cutscene, Like when your ghost falls over the edge and your character screams: "noooooooooooooo!" but no words or sound come out. That actually breaks the drama, making it feel silly and weird. Silent characters does not work everywhere. Bioware made it work both in Dragon age Inqusition and in Star Wars the Old republic. Oh speaking of SWTOR, shared cutscenes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW6YZ4ifeVY&index=1&list=PL-ncH812VtHEuig93Hjh_rLCTWqUC1-Ps

Agreed! The destiny 2 beta cutscenes feels very empty without a guardian voice. Awkwardly so at times. Especially when the ghost got thrown over the edge, there was a really weird silent Nooooooooooooooo. @Cozmo #Cozmo Bungie has made a very cinematic game with D2 so everytime you expect your guardian to speak and they don't, it just ruins the immersion. Your like: oh right game design. Atleast Master Chief had lines when he was supposed to say something.

I felt the same.. if the guardian had no voice since the beginning.. kool I would have been ok with that. But from put of nowhere (and im not talking about an RKO) our guardian lost his/her voice. -blam!- it I would voice act it for free... I loved how the Guardian interacted with the Ghost.. Im ok with the Guardian being silent for the missions and during gameplay but in cutscenes it just doesn't make sense to give his/her lines to the ghost I too felt completely disconnected from my character. Come on don't tell me Destiny is not making money to pay for the voice actors...

Please give our characters a voice, anybody! just grab an intern and do voice overs, please....
-
I want my guardian to sound like the text to speech guy
-
Because they talked so much before
-
I approve. I understand it was a problem to keep all six of those voice actors, but there must have been some way.
-
Bump.
-
If I could get Lisa Ann to voice my Guardian I might get interested in this.
-
But no one can do your voice like you.
-
Like Horizon Zero Dawn?
-
Bump I too have inquired about this in the past.
-
They'd never have enough voice options or dialogue to represent the variety of player envisionments. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.
-
I want my guardian to sound like Donald Trump on helium!
-
I play as an Exo. So I want my exo to sound like Dinklebot.
-
I want my voice to be Morris Day from Morris Day and the Mother-blam!-in' TIME!!!
-
-
I been asking the same thing but no one else gives a shit
-
I WANNA DIAULOGE OPTIONS YOU KNOW
-

There's no changing it for D2. The game is done. At this point, they are playing around with the backend systems and fine-tuning existing elements. Either: A) They decided to continue down the silent protagonist route, or B) Your Guardian has lines in the game IIRC, the change in direction during D1 was motivated by Bungie wanting you to be the "voice" of your Guardian and (on the logistical/financial side of things) Bungie not wanting to have to deal with 6 additional voice actors. We'll have to wait and see.

I agree, but not tooooo much. There's a fine line between "Galaxy Saving Badass" and "Tacky Wonderboy."
