Let me be honest with you..

I didn't Pre-Order D1 or D2 for PvP. I didn't really care if they had them or not. I'm not really into Competitive shooters that much like I used to be. D1 got me interested because I love playing MMOs. Knowing that Team Bungie had come up with this was pretty cool. (Played a lot of Halo in my younger days.) When it comes to playing MMOs I never cared at all to do PvP. I tried a lot but, it wasn't my cup of tea. If anyone has played FlyFF (Fly For Fun) I did PvP on there back in the early days of the MMOs life. I mostly enjoy playing MMOs or games like it for the "Loot". I love hunting for rare things and collectables. This is the reason why I enjoy playing Destiny for this reason. There is always some type of weapon or armor to hunt for or grind for and I really enjoy that. As for Destiny PvP, I mostly only play it to collect loot. When I play I do try very much to keep a good K.D just because. I don't "try" to be a PvP player but, my CoD comes out of me. I mostly play when I want something like Iron Banner Weapons/Armors. Reason why I am blabbering about all this is because, I don't see Destiny as a PvP driven game. That is the reason why I feel like a black sheep to friends and the community because I rarely have any complaints..I did some thinking, maybe I want to think its fun? Well, if you knew me you would say that I don't stick to a game very long. Well, it has been from D1 Beta till D2 gameplay reveal that I have played Destiny. That is a huge feat for someone who gets bored of playing the same game. So no I enjoy playing. I can't really point out why I enjoy playing Destiny. I enjoy the whole game and respect it as it is. Q & A Q. If I had to pick one reason why I like destiny? A. Loot. Q. One honest complaint? A. I had to pay twice for DLC. (Xbox 360 to Xbox One, That was my desicion to pay for it though.) Q. Why havn't I played Destiny 1 after Destiny 2 GamePlay Reveal? A. Well, I did a lot in D1. So I feel like I needed a break so I can come back into D2 and be refreshed and awake to hunt for that Loot. Final Thoughts- I don't see a lot of honest posts on the forums. All I see is how people hate this feature or that "Nerf" (It isn't a nerf if it needed to be fixed.) Why hate a game so much and still play it? Why complain about a game so much and still Pre-Order it? Why go through the trouble of writing a detailed post or a 5 word post about your complaints and hates and still load up into a raid or match? Because you enjoy the game. Have a great day everyone and give me some of your honest thoughts, or not. (I am at work, bored. So entertain me please.) Edit: 1.)To the few of you saying destiny isn't a MMO. Coming from a person who plays mostly MMO games on all platforms, destiny has very strong mmo elements. So if you want to say it isn't that is fine too. To me, it's one of those "opinion" type things. 2.)To the honest salt-free feedback, you guys are scholors and gentlemen/ladies. It is nice to see people here who can talk about a touchy topic with common sense and respect. 3.) Everyone else, I hope we all can see eye to eye one day.

  • It's a love/hate thing. When you are passionate about something, you tend to be more volatile about it. Just like real life relationships. Reminds me of my ex-wife. We had some really bad arguments, said horrible things to each other and it was a powder keg at times. She was also the most wonderful, passionate and intense lover I ever had. I guess one extreme can cause another. I too have a love/hate thing going with Destiny. There are a lot of things that tick me off in PvP, but I still keep playing it. When it's good it's really good. There have been many times were I was very satisfied and happy with the PvP experience and it gives me a lot of things that I crave about gaming. I love customization, perks, loot, look and feel and the suits of armor. PvP is also very challenging and it makes me want to be better. My love for the game also makes me more picky about it. I notice every little flaw and annoyance. When it's bad, I can't stand it.

  •
Why hate a game so much and still play it?
Lots of reasons: 1. There is a generational mistrust of corporations and their power. Especially after the economic collapse of 2008-9. So its "hip" to bad-mouth anything to do with corporations among many young people 2. E-sports. You probably have a number of young people who arent' playing these games for fun and recreation. They're playing them because they have "hoop dreams" of becoming a professional gamer. 3. Addiction. A lot of the more obnoxious behaviors you see on forums like this is VERY familiar to anyone who has experience dealing with addiction. Addicts are some of the ANGRIEST people you will every meet in your life. In addition to whatever inner demons they are struggling with (and trying to anesthetize), they're lives are out of control...but to protect the addiction their denial has to see others as responsible for their prorblems....and see themselves as "victims". In just about every pursuit that has the ability to alter our moods and feelings, we seem to find that addiction occurs in about 10% of people. So some of the ragers you're hearing are probably people who are process-addicted to video gaming...and they dont' play to have fun. They play to not-feel-bad....and they get angry and rage like drug addicts jonesing for a fix if they dont' what they want, when they want it. (I'm not saying that everyone who complains about games and gaming are addicts. But when a game's release gets delayed and you start sending people death threats....or "swatting" people over things that happen in a video game....something in your head has really and truly gone off the rails.)

      • I usually play crucible when I'm done with my weekly missions or don't have enough time to complete a raid. I feel like PVP should still be in the game but I feel the PVE should be the main focus of the game.

            • I agree. I'm playing D2 for the LOOT, BBY. Lost zones sound exciting, patrolling doesn't sound like a waste of time grinding for warsats anymore. I know I'll end up doing PVP, but exploring comes first.

              • I'm on the same boat as you mate. Love the MMO genre of games. However, I do not have the same problem as you when it comes to playing the same game for long periods of times. It does take me a while to find that one game I wanna give all my time to though. It does seem like a lot of the PVE players out there don't speak up as much. Probably because we're not nearly as butt hurt as the PVPers. That's just my opinion anyways. I feel the same way being the black sheep of the community and it sucks. Have faith though, there are a handful of us here to feel the same way. Take it easy, Guardian.

                        • I know this game is a lot to people, and many take it very seriously, but it is really just a game. It's what you play when you wanna hop on the Xbox or PlayStation when you're bored, or when you're super determined to get loot, a better LL, etc. I'm hearing a lot about how it's not fair that the "casuals" or "noobs" are ruining the game... my point is that no matter what Destiny or any other game is to you, it should be used to have fun. Let other people do what they want. This game is truly great, even with some of its flaws, and it's so much better to play when you're enjoying it.

                          • I think you have hit the nail on the head!!! FUN!! Is what we play for, right? Raids have, up until recently, been elusive to me. Destiny is the first MMO I have played, and was a bit unsure as to how to connect with other player. Now I find the whole experience enjoyable. Yes I suck at at PvP, yes I regularly fall of the map, but I have FUN!

You see more vitrol on the forums because PVP often invites it. PVP is a system that requires equal ground, skill, stern matchmaking to ensure fair fights, stern rules & stats to maintain balance & fair play. However PVP also touches people emotionally...mostly in their pride. People do not like to own up to their flaws, accept their flaws, acknowledge their flaws, nor be confronted or told about their flaws. And that is in everyday life. In PVP you WILL lose a fight eventually. You WILL lose a match eventually. Most people just like with real life flaws, refuse to just accept a loss. To admit to being outplayed, outsmarted, or outmatched. Just isn't something many can swallow or accept. So like in real life most people displace the blame. It was: Lag, Hacks, Overpowered ___, bad teammates, 30fps, etc. Also, its easier to voice a complaint than compliment. When folks are satisfied they don't think much on things. But... When they are dissatisfied... They remember everything & the anger keeps it fresh in their minds. So...easier to say something. Edit: I forgot to say my piece...
Q. If I had to pick one reason why I like destiny?
A. Adventure
Q. One honest complaint?
A. Forcing PVP on players. No MMO/MMO like game forces PVP like Destiny did. Having to PVE for _ steps just tp be thrown into the crosshairs of skilled PVPers was unfair & should be some sort of crime. It's unfair to both crowds. PVPers on the side of those questing have to carry and/or deal with a player who just wants to get the quest done & run, additionally they have to deal with unskilled players feeding the enemy points. For PVE players...they become fodder/free kills/farmed because they have no option other than to give up on ever finishing or suffer for __ hrs in pvp.
Q. Why haven't I played Destiny 1 after Destiny 2 GamePlay Reveal?
A. My Router is fried. Tried to stream a Blindfall (Blind Nightfall run) & it blew out on me. Stupid Apple Airport...
- Final Thoughts -
I enjoy PVE. I enjoy Challenge of Elders, Nightfall, Strikes, & Patrol is honestly relaxing for me except in Plaguelands (where I find myself eventually going into a Bloodrage & commit mass genocide on a global scale.). I enjoy hanging out in The Vestian Outposr during non-Trials hours, & Iron Temple during Trials hours. I enjoy wandering outside the temple. I also love swords. I wish they could be primaries, as I'd love to main a melee class. I like alot of what Destint became TTK & beyond. No longer was I working myself to the bone to have a thick hot fart blown in my face as a reward. No longer was I forever 29/31. No longer was I unable to have a "look" for my guardian. Overall the game became what games are meant to be..."Fun". Hell I wouldn't be on these forums if I wasn't playing. (God I need a new router...)

                                  • Since you don't have anything else to do in the game, do like I did and buy a PS4 to start over. It won't take you long to get up to 390 as long as you use the level 40 consumable that comes for free with your first character. It's a renewed love for the game. The toughest part is finding a raid group as a level 390, and it's rendered even more frustrating considering the only way to raise my light level is to raid. I found one group at Atheon that was willing to let me join though, and being the lowest level, I was running relic, and we got it after just a few wipes. I still don't understand why people are scared of a 390 in a 390 raid.

                                      • Reasons why I've enjoyed Destiny(not in order of importance): The gunplay, quite smooth at times, especially early on before all the nerfs. The guns themselves, a lot of really cool and fun to use weapons in the game (ties into the above reason) The armor, a lot of it looks really cool, especially the Titan armors. The lore, while distanced from the gameplay itself, a lot of it is still really cool. The enemy races, they provide a good variety in combat, with different enemies requiring different strategies to defeat. All the collectibles, ships, shaders, emblems, armor, guns, soo much stuff to collect! The Co-Op, whether it's strikes or raids, it's always a good feeling to succeed when working in a group. The story, it's the part that helps to explain why you've been thrust into this almost bizaroworld post apocalyptic future where you are a warrior of space magic. And now, the darker side,
things I didn't like: The nerfing, no one likes to have a gun not be as good as it used to. Lack of storage space, this one hurts the collectors. All the RNG, why so many variables? The disconnect between grimoire and game. Inconsistencies in difficulty/length of new and old strikes. Having to re-earn new versions of old guns. The story, when it calls you a tool. Raids that are so mechanically complex that it takes out the fun of actually raiding.
I brought the game for the same reasons you did, love the fps rpg design, the loot, the look and feel of the game, but I hate pvp, never liked cod type of games and destinys pvp is no different, running around in circles shooting at other people, no exploration, no secrets to find, mechanics to work out, just run and shoot. A large amount of pve players have left after feeling bungie sold them something that was not what they addvitised, I feel the same and Ttk was the last straw for me, many of my friends gave up after tdb and how, many just went and found another game, and forgot about destiny, some still feel cheated 3 years later and voice there opinion on here when ever possible, and they will not be buying d2. I've not preordered a game, ever, and never will, there is not point to it, and nothing to gain in the long run. I'm still undecided about d2 but what I've heard about the pve sounds great, but I'll need to see more (once bitten and all that) but after reading twab I'm not even sure we will see much of it at e3, will the beta be the same? We will see, Bungie DID -blam!-up, bad! And have not really shown us any improvement over the last 3 years, and the reveal has still not hit the mark, I hope it's good I really do, I want to play the game they keep talking about, it sounds amazing, but I'm yet to be convinced.
