At what point does legitimate criticism become salt?

  • When you criticize something that's not even out yet...

  • Again, criticism of something doesn't instantly mean it's salt, you understand that, right?

  • Yes it does. if that something isn't even released to the public, yet is already taking heavy criticism- it is salt. Erik from internet comment etiquette said it best when he noticed people criticizing the new IT movie, based on just a single still from the new pennywise outfit. All we have seen so far is a little bit of gameplay. That's not enough to determine whether or not it's going to be shit or not.

  • We've seen a LOT more than a single still and we've seen huge amounts of gameplay and features. Don't try to pretend otherwise.

when both the intention and substance of the comments become about hating the game and ranting, instead of offering actual points to improve on. example - "THIS GAME SUCKS ANYONE WHO PLAYS IT IS STUPID, THE PVP ( or pve) IS BROKEN BUNGIE SHOULD KILLED!" is not informative... it might be "criticism" and might come from someone who played the game, but it has no value to anyone, bungie can't get any actual info out of that and the player base will either get annoyed, or ignore it because its just someone screaming nonsense and will always lead to people fighting each other. "this game is not very good, i understand people do like it but i don't like the pvp (or pve) and because of reason A B C and D. bungie could do better" on the other hand gives actual info on that bungie can look at and improve on, and the community has the option to either agree or disagree with actual arguments and allows people to go back and forth without it devolving into attacking each other. there is a huge difference between the two.

  • When it's based on no actual information. Like none of these people have actually played the game and are 100% certain they know exactly what's going to happen. We saw maybe an hour of gameplay using a build in which you couldn't even open up the perk trees of equipment, much less activate them. There are currently 2 legit complaints: No dedicated servers/30fps, and maybe some loss of customization of subclass perk trees (but even that one is a little premature). Everything else has essentially no objective information to back it up.

  • The perk tree for Destiny alpha looked like this as well. Then it changed to what we know now. Alpha is just a demo. The beta will look way different, I'm sure. Removing options would be a step so far backwards that it would kill the game. We have seen that with past sandbox changes and dropping paid dlc's in exchange for micro transactions and mini events. That killed off a pretty substantial part of the player base. However, if they were telling the truth about non-stop content... Then the smaller skill tree would be something to pretty much be guaranteed to grow over expansions. Still, that seems kind of lazy. Kinda like arcstrider or whatever that knockoff is called.

  • Another legitimate complaint is that the Arcstrider is basically a Bladedancer with a different weapon. Very lackluster.

I disagree. You realize of course that nobody outside of Bungie's internal testers has actually played that class, right? Not one person. All that's been seen is some gameplay clips. Nobody knows the perk tree, grenades, melee, jumps, anything. So that's also completely baseless. The super appears to be a better version of bladedancer, no other information is available.

  • You act like hands on experience is the only thing that matters. As if, by regurgitating this bandwagon argument, it somehow adds weight to your naysaying. The parallels are blatant but still you deny them, because "they haven't shown us the perks". Sounds like you and those like you need more of a reality check than those who are dissatisfied with the obvious similarities. Titans and Warlocks are fresh, Hunters are similar, plain and simple. I find your belief, that perks are going to radically change the behavior we've seen so far, delusional. And your need to justify the similarities by spouting an argument that is just as effective when turned against you, incredibly hypocritical.

I'm not totally sure what that thesaurus' wet dream of jumbled multi-syllabic words even means, but what matters is actually knowing wtf's there before making a conclusion. Clearly that's not on your agenda so go have fun building that little salt pile in the corner.

My conclusion was this, "Arcstrider is basically a Bladedancer with a different weapon." The basic English post stated, "Titans and Warlocks are fresh, Hunters are similar." How can you dispute how similar the subclass is by stating, "you know nothing," while taking the stance that rejects the only thing we do know?

You're missing the point here. Like you, I cannot prove or disprove the similarily of the subclass, because, just like everyone else, all I've seen is a few clips from a montage. We know easily the least about hunters of the three; passing judgement now is premature.

The only judgement that I have passed is that the Hunter changes are lackluster, because of how similar the Arcstrider and the Bladedancer are. Sure, they might add perks that change the way you use the class, just as they did with Bladedancer, but it's not going to change the base behavior of what we've seen so far. We know it's an acrobatic melee super. This gives you a few options to modify its behavior. You can give it a ranged attack, an aoe attack, or a utility perk. These have all been done before. Honestly, I don't care what they do with the arc subclass, because a melee dps super just doesn't perform well enough for me in Destiny. I only ever used Bladedancer for the invisibility and right-bumping my way across large gaps. The only thing that would make me want to play an Arcstrider is the addition of https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/227274653?sort=0&page=0 (the part after salvation). Melee classes suffer from the need to close the gap in a gun game. If I could ride the lightning to the center of a group of victims all would be forgiven.

  •
Another legitimate complaint is that the Arcstrider is basically a Bladedancer with a different weapon. Very lackluster.
Perhaps because we can normally equip Swords now? It makes the Super redundant, considering it and Hive Swords were the only ways to use Swords before TTK.

  • Maybe. I'm very excited for the swords, but I wonder if their attacks will have charges like they do now, or if they are somehow permanent. They don't seem energy based so I can't imagine the sword suddenly disappearing after a few swings.

  • I would say the line is between "Here is where I think Bungie really dropped the ball." and "This game sucks, D2 will suck, and you are all idiots for having any other opinion." Criticism and discussion are interesting. Constantly bitching and insulting others, just because you get some kind of kick out of being a tool...not so interesting.

You can't really say 30 fps is a valid complaint, as bungie has revealed that no console can run Destiny 2 at 30 FPS.

  • That is a claim. I'm waiting to see what the specs will be for PC at 60fps before I really have an opinion. Then compare that with scorpio, pro and even base current gen consoles at 1TB. If they were lying, then this community will reach high salt levels. For their sake and ours, I hope they are right.
