am i the only one worried about how only the person who loaded the ammo gets it? i feel like this will lead to several people getting mad at their teammates as well as masses of guardians crowding around boxes waiting for ammo to come, and then having a competition of who can press and hold square a millionth of a second before everyone else. am i the only one worried about this?

Just from seeing the gameplay reveal I can tell that BUNGIE did not lie when they said they wanted to go back to their halo roots. From the gameplay I've seen I can assume that this game will be played like halo but with abilities. So think of power ammo like how you would think about someone finding a sniper or rocket launcher in halo. If the person is good with the weapon, uses the ammo effectively, and is good at staying alive then power ammo will be an issue playing against them. However these people are more top tier players. Most of the time you will run into people that are more casual due to it being a new release which means most of the people you will get matched against will be at or close to your skill level. If you have a 1.0, you probably won't be playing top tier people that are going to be able to abuse power ammo. Therefore I feel that power ammo will be as balanced as it can be. -Xəyloh

Yes, cause 4 people with snipers camping in the back of the map is so fun to play against match after match. 1 heavy is plenty, 1 sniper is plenty. It is THE best decision Bungie could have made for PVP. Now you have to earn your position on the team as the designated sniper / shotgunner.

The idea behind this move is to create a greater need for strategy within a team and limit 1 shot weapons so they do not control the format. This will be an incredible change for competitive Destiny play. For average crucible, it addresses the special ammo crutches, but that's about it.
-
If you have a specific team member trusted to do work with the power weapon or every team member is capable of using it well, there's no problem.
-
Well I mean it just makes it so I can't get mad at the dude who never waits for teammates so I can't actually get mad at them for not waiting so I think it's a fine change
-
Honestly I think it will be better than having assholes pick up heavy ammo before any teammates can get there
-
Let them camp. The easiest target is one that doesn't move. Either adjust to the changes or get out (I say that to the players who refuse to use primaries).
-
So long as there isn't some reason that we have to use power ammo for kills such as bounties/quests that require power ammo kills it shouldn't be a huge issue.
-
Actually I kinda like it

Edited by Sadvathun: 5/31/2017 10:01:18 PMLearn to use a primary. Try halo it's the exact same

What does "hold square" mean?
xb 4 lyf
-
I don't care as long as the weapons we can consistently use are kickass
-
I'm worried about the whole weapon system.
-
NO. I like sniping. BUT only situationally. I don't use it like a primary. I don't like the block to sniping by introducing it as heavy.
-
Nah, this is how it works in halo with power weapons. Will people get mad at others for picking up the power ammo? Yep. Just like people get mad at shitters who pick up snipe/rockets in Halo. But overall I think it's a better system.
-
Edited by kurina: 6/1/2017 4:07:49 AMI don't mind it at all. :L People who relies so much on special and abilities now in D1 would probably struggle on in D2's PvP That's just my opinion though

Nope I am too. I think turning the specials into heavy types was a little dramatic too.

Starting off, yes, it's going to get real cutthroat over power ammo. People are going to be butt-hurt and that's on them. Eventually the players are going to learn to develop their gun skill and won't mind not getting power ammo. But for the players who won't adapt and will camp power ammo, well, we will know where to look for an easy kill.

I think it will balance itself out, kinda like this: In pubs, if you're solo queuing remember, only one person on each team is going to get it, and you're going to know who they are, where they got it and what they got (shotgun, rocket etc) That'll give you the chance to either hunt them down and get rid of them or stay away. If you're loading in with a team, you'll just decide amongst yourselves or call out on the fly who is picking it up, depending on how seriously you're playing. That's it. If you want to get salty about not getting to run around with a shotgun or because xX_sToLeYoUrAmMo_Xx stole "your" ammo then you're just going to have to approach it more tactically. Crucible is just going to require a bit of a mental change: the skill curve will be defined by who adapts fastest.
-
You are on the money. New pho changes in D2 won't survive the scrutiny. They are sucking the fun out of the crucible.
-
it's like halo where a power weapon like a rocket launcher or energy sword will spawn somewhere on the map, only one person gets it and if they die then it's gone, same premise here, one person gets the power weapon and if they die then oh well
-
First thing PvP players will complain about on the forums
mark my words
It might be frustrating when the bottom player grabs power ammo, but I like the idea of it to balance the game more. If everyone could get power ammo from a single box, everybody would either camp until they got power ammo or wins would be determined by who had power ammo more often. The way it is now, it puts a strong emphasis on primary gun skill, which creates a much larger skill gap than what we have now.

No, you are not the only one is who worried about this. I, however, am not worried about it, and so I don't care whether or not you like it.
