You wont receive an email regarding your ban/restriction. You would have been told in-game how long your restriction is/was for. If it's a ban, then it is forever.

Im Spiel steht immer da, dass ich nur vorübergehend gebannt bin aber keine genaue Zeit.

It would only show on the first message viewed. Each subsequent time just says you're restricted/banned. If you overlooked it, then you will just have to wait it out and keep checking. You will not get a message from Bungie or another in-game statement on the time frame.
