I think the moment where the director decided to throw out slow zombies for a World War Z movie takes the cake. An amazing novel brought to the screen as a generic piece of garbage that heralded the end for zombie movies.

Not for World War Z, which was entirely structured around the slow zombies, but really emphasized how many of them there were and how hard it was to stop them. The battle of Yonkers alone would have been an amazing scene as all of the US Shock and Awe arsenal is shown to be ineffective. What should have been a decisive victory turns to disorder and panic as our airstrikes, tanks, artillery, mortar fire does little to stem the flow of the zombies. The aerial shots possible of the massive horde of tens of millions of zombie pressing forward through the shrapnel. The circus of the press helicopters filling the air in between military transports and attack helicopters raining down missiles. The terror of the realization doesn't sink in and permeate with fast zombies in the same way as the slow in my opinion.

That Romero remake, forget if it was dawn or day of the dead, the one with the army..... 1st Nick Cannon trying to talk like a ghetto black person was bad enough but the zombies being so fast, being able to climb walls and ceilings......that was stupid

That's a good thing though.
The zombie trend is one of the dumbest things in human history.
Zombie trend dying was fine, for it to take one of the only good fictions and to take a massive dump on it was not cool. I was -blam!-ing sick of the zombie meme by the point I picked up World War Z, but enjoyed the hell out of it. The movie was hot garbage and had nothing to do with that novel.

Isn't that the way a lot of book adaptations are?

*cough* Percy Jackson *cough*
-
Yep, take I Am Legend as another example. Did they even read the book before that hack adapted it??
-
Hey I love that movie.
-
Meh they completely missed the point of the book
-
I guess I'll have to read it then.

fair enough
