Separating them would make PVP like every other PVP game.......fun for a while then I'm done with it. Playing with your hard earned gear in PVP made me and many other guardians hooked on the fun this game can bring. Hopefully the connection and matchmaking issues will be fixed for D2. If that is the case, D2 could be very, very good
Playing with your hard earned gear in PVP made me and many other guardians hooked on the fun this game can bring.
But this is why PVP got so unbalanced in D1. You can't have fun, amazing, powerful equipment and expect it to take it into PVP and have it be balanced against other opponents. SOMETHING needs to give. Either they have to separate the two, or Bungie needs to accept that PVP will never be balanced - and that is OKAY, so long as nothing is runaway OP like OG Vex. Bungie can't GO that route because too many players bitch n whine about getting killed by the same stuff over and over again, so the only reasonable thing to do is fully separate the two.

That's why we don't care about balance. We want destiny

I agree 100% - but unfortunately there's too many people here who come from a FPS background - and particularly from FPS games that are actually well balanced. This leads them to cry out for balance over here, and so PVP in Destiny "must be balanced" because Bungie doesn't have the spine to stand behind their own product. In fact, all the changes in D2 pretty much scream "The Halo days are back! bring on the E-Sports!" So unfortunately, if that is their stance, PVE and PVP must be completely separated to ensure that the balance changes for PVP don't bleed over and ruin PVE like it has over the last 2+ years.
