I have a challenge for you...
When D2 comes out...don't use the Internet, forums, or Reddit for at least a week. Because I can guarantee people will run out and find and stream EVERY secret, location, plot twist, gun quest, etc as fast as they can. Let the game surprise you! These guys create these amazing worlds full of secrets, but we blow through it cause we can find the answers in seconds. I can guarantee it will exponentially increase playtime and I would argue your enjoyment as well!
Just a thought I had since at this point the internet is basically a freaking hive mind and we solve puzzles ultra fast. I'm looking forward to discovering some secrets on my own. Good luck out there.
P.S.
or ya know...don't do any of this, and I'm sure it'll still be fun...just a thought, but I'm kinda pumped about it!

So the sneaker goes "bonk" against the couch and then the ferret pops his head out like "WTF!?" Then gets a real good grip on the shoe and starts tugging. For several minutes you see a shoe sliding back and forth along the floor at the edge of the couch. The ferret runs back and forth under that couch trying his darndest while yanking that shoe. "Bonk, bonk, bonk" followed by occasional frustrated ferret chatter, all day long, but the ferret never learns.

2 RepliesI would also recommend this approach for when raids come out. My raid group has done this since Crota. My best raid memories are the first week of the new raids, us trying to just figure the fights out with zero help. It's really fun.

I have and always will play the game myself, finding the secrets and special quests myself. As I did when I got the First Curse quest, I had no idea I'd get a gun that I still use to this day.

I'm not even watching any of the reveals. I plan to go in cold just like I did the first one. The excitement I had when I got my first pair of boots was great.

I try to go on my own until I just can't get past something after tons of try's, if can't figure it out then I'll research just that one little thing to get me back on track until the next unsolvable problem my pea brain can't figure out. Still workin on the character design screen for D1.....(it's hard as f*ck to figure out!)

I already thought the reveal was a bit much to be honest. Starting to think a destiny youtube/stream blackout until october/november wouldnt be a bad thing. Maybe its not for everyone, but i wasnt watching streams or youtube at the start of destiny, and it didnt hurt my progress.

Playing by the book of someone else takes all the fun out of the game. Like in Destiny 1 i will play from first to last mission alone, after that is all game. People now a days are in a hurry to rush every kind of content, just to say that they have done it first, but they forget to play the game it self.

I never really went online to figure out stuff. It ruins the game. I only used it twice, first time was the calcified fragment guide and second time was the oryx part of King's Fall raid guide. The rest was through word of mouth or discovery.

Will only watch the reveal stream and that's it for about a month or two after release. I'm gonna get my money's worth for this game

1 ReplyI did just this for each new DLC with Destiny 1. I would play through all of the story missions at least once before ever going back to the web to find new info that I may have missed. I would grab anything that I came across like gold chests, dead ghosts, or eventually the Calcified Fragments or SIVA clusters on my 1st toon. I would use a guide for everything that I missed on my alts.
