So let's ask the community. What locations are you guys expecting or hoping for in Destiny 2? Not just patrols. Any location.

Luigi's mansion, there's not much water there👍🏻
-
Something outside the solar system. Weve gone to the rings of Saturn, and also fought time manipulating machines so it's reasonable to believe we have the capability to leave the system all together.
-
Super Mario World👍🏻

Vault of Glass. It would kind of work, since it's all about time travel and stuff so it could be reset in time or something like that. I'd love to see a reprise VoG once the new D2 engine is in play

Edited by Kenzie: 5/17/2017 3:57:47 PMI am certainly expecting to explore the ruins of the Tower/Last City and I would expect numerous new locations around earth... Apart from that I think its an open field, not too fussed about going to the exact locations we've already been to but obviously the same planets with new locations would be nice... A new planet or two (Or space base) would be cool...(Various moons could be used as new locations e.g. Titan, Ganymede, Europa, Callisto or Triton) The main thing I want from the new open world/patrol areas is: 1) They are a lot bigger (Which I think they will be) 2) They have built in npc's scattered across them in allied encampments which in turn provide you with various new vendors and side quests 3) Make exploring the patrol areas more appealing by having more easter eggs hidden away, secret chests, mini bosses (Anything of that sort that you would find in a good open would RPG) (I know this is primarily a FPS but it wouldn't hurt to steal some of the good parts of a decent RPG) I just hope it lives up to my expectations...

According to leaks that have been proving more reliable as more information is revealed, they say the new public areas are 4x the size of the largest existing patrol. We've also heard before that Saturn will be the newest location. I'm not having big hopes for that but I stay optimistic we're getting a new planet or at least a new location outside our current options to explore that isn't in D1 I don't expect the Dreadnaught to exist or be explorable. I expect it to get destroyed by the Cabal when they enter our system, or at the very least it will be changed. Obviously the missions and raid wouldn't make sense to keep since they wouldn't match up with the story timeline. At most I'd say there could be a mission or a few to revisit and pick up something or we won't revisit at all until a later DLC. We can expect Earth, and probably some of the other existing planets, but all the existing missions and strikes will more than likely not be available. I also don't expect the Cosmodrome or Plaguelands, but a new patrol. If I had a guess, I'd say in the general area of where the Tower is. At a minimum I don't think we'll be visiting even half of the same terrains, some may be opened up to more areas to explore, have new enemies, and according to multiple sources there will be little "towns" and NPCs about that aren't in D1.

Anywhere under water👍🏻

The European Dead Zone.

expecting Cosmodrome Plaguelands the Moon Venus Mars return to the dreadnaught the reef bungie have showed that they have reall issue implementing any new locations and adding them in, mostly due to game engine limitations by all accounts The engine was the Halo 3 / reach engine with some tweaks for Destiny. (Explains a lot, don't it!)Designed for last gen. Unless they update the engine and are looking to substantially increase map size, enemies per map, Guardians per map, etc etc etc, then I would expect more of the same only more boring as there will be nothing new. Just a tired re-tread of what we already have. I have no faith that they can produce anything of interest since the Vanilla Destiny was a different game altogether, and RoI was a shallow money grab.

Isle of Wight, Magaluf and Butlins Minehead. Fingers are crossed for any of these to be honest.
-
I'm execting the jovians, wherever the warmind malahayati is and the inside of the cabal ship
-
we'll get a reskinned Cosmodrome 👎👎👎👎👎👎
-
Expecting? No where. Wishing? Absolutely anywhere where our guardian encampments can be assaulted. I want to be able to say guardians fought off enemies attempting to wipe us out.

Edited by zxionisus: 5/12/2017 10:51:33 PMDestiny Islands, Twilight Town, and maybe some Olympus Coliseum for trials, fighting Sephiroth, etc. I'm afraid they will probably add a Frozen world though. Alternatively, we could revisit Black Mesa and especially Ravenholm - I'd love to get my hands on Father Gregory's shot gun or the gravity gun in Destiny. I'd chuck cars at the adds. Oh wait... Seriously though, I'd like to see a Euro zone like in Widows Court or the Last City where we have to go house to house to fight an alien race and save people. Maybe make the hive more scary.

Old Chicago anyone?
-
Europa, have you seen the concept art? It looks freaking beautiful.
-
japan and new york. i know you said no patrols but i fell like there shoulld be a patrols in japan and new york. so why japan well it would look nice with the trees and the citys. and for new York well it would look probably look futuristic but it might look like in ruins from the collapse so yeah.

The cold and frozen moon of Jupiter, Europa. Ever since Destiny came out I wanted nothing more than to have a freezing cold and snowed-over location. Ice, snow and blinding blizzards. Something that I think would be lovely would be a derelict space-vessel, possibly of Cabal or human origin. A location floating in free-space with internal and external set pieces would be awesome. Can't forget the last cliche set-piece. An underwater zone. There is always an underwater region.

See them mountains "you can go there." But there is a catch...
You'll be on the other side of the kill zone looking back where you use to play with new kill zones surrounding you in a little circle. That will be the new patrol.
Got to love COD borders lol.
