Overwatch Police Dva controversy
Ok so... Here's a little background on the subject for people that don't know.
Police Dva wass introduced as a skin for Dva that could only be obtained by playing Heroes of the Storm matches online. Of course, everyone was excited until... Things went bad. Apparently a bunch of people on tumblr went crazy saying how Dva is unplayable now, disgusting, and a pig. All because they hate American cops.
So now to my view on this.
I laughed when I saw this. Legitimate one minute of laughing. Are we actually serious? A bunch of edgy teens really say that Blizzard is a bunch of pig lovers because of the fact that Dva has a police skin. [u]WHICH ISN'T EVEN AMERICAN[/u], It's a Korea police officer for gods sake! And here's the best part. Someone drew Dva in a black lives matter t-shirt and of course said that the police alone as ugly as hell because of the way it looked.
I mean. What the hell is with these "all righteous" teens. And if their not teens? Babies. Giant babies.
So, I'm interested to hear back for the community now, and leave your thoughts below on the situation, I would really like to see what everyone has to say about this.

6 RepliesI'm honestly sick of the hate being put on police officers. Like what, 5 incidents of crooked cops in the past 3 years? All it ever seems like is people saying that cops are the scum of society because of these incidents. What? Don't think there aren't any good cops in this world? A few months ago, a cop sacrificed his own life to dive into a frozen lake to save a woman who attempted suicide by drowning. By giving up his own life, he saved hers and she is on a road to recovery. Last year, a cop spent what was left of his money to buy food for a hungry child who couldn't afford his own. Wanna know what happened to this kind hearted cop? He was shot dead in less than 10 minutes after buying that hungry kid food. The guy apparently thought he was doing society a favor by shooting this man. By doing this, he killed an innocent man, scarred a child who saw the whole thing, and now the cop's children never get to see their dad again. Oh, still think that cops are dirty and you shouldn't be grateful? A long time ago, back in the 1940's I believe, there was a small town in Indiana. People there were ungrateful, hateful, and completely disrespectful to their police officers. One day, the police officers had enough, so they decided, "If you think you can live happy lives without us, then I guess you don't need law enforcement!" Every single one of them left in the blink of an eye. Not a single cop left in town. At first people were happy, but then they realized that they f***ed up. [b]Big time[/b]. In less than 3 days, theft and robberies had a 50% increase, r*pe and other sexual assaults had an increase of around 40%. Murder, assaults, and other related crimes had an outstanding increase of around 85-90%. All of this in 3 days. It nearly took a week of complaining and begging for the police to even come back. Long story short, BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE THE THIN BLUE LINE BETWEEN YOU AND CRIME!!!

2 RepliesOkay here's my perspective: There is no need to have any controversy. I don't think it's controversial to have Dva wearing a police skin. It isn't a slam on American police officers or any nation's police force. It is also not a commendation toward any police brutality. If Blizzard INTENDED to stir things with this skin, they succeeded. When I first saw it, I reacted with a "do I love it or hate it?" I didn't see a political motive behind the skin. I see many neat possible "stories" when I'm playing Overwatch. One regarding the police skin is not present for me though. I also like how someone in this forum mentioned many of the heroes have some sort of military background. Expanding on this, there are two legendary Soldier 76 skins that look like a more typical camo uniform. I know they aren't actual military uniforms so don't point that out. My point here is solely that this wasn't seen as controversial. Moreover, in these two skins Soldier's gun looks more like an M4 variant rifle than other skins, where his pulse rifle doesn't so much resemble actual guns we see in today's world. So with this somewhat drawn out perspective, I conclude with 1. No need for controversy 2. DVA is not being used to shame or promote police brutality or anything of the sort. At least that's how I see it

I hadn't heard of this particular issue in regards to D.Va's police skin. The only issue I've heard was in regards to having to play HoTS in order to unlock it.

It's even worse because most of the characters in Overwatch have military or peacekeeping backgrounds anyways. So like, why weren't you rioting before?

I haven't seen any controversy of this. Though D.va was actually unplayable for a bit. Her literal existence in game caused whole servers to crash, people to lag out, lag spikes, and matches being completely reset. So in a sense they were right lmao. Also apparently the Gaming emote hasn't been working with the police d.va skin. Not to mention if she doesn't have a good healer her meka goes down fast anymore.
