This makes the game very frustrating to play for people who prefer casual, couch gaming with friends. I hope connection issues like this are given much more thought and care in the sequel, as I am a huge fan of the game. Thank you for your time, whoever may read this.

Use Ethernet if you can, also don't have the PS4s right next to each other it will mess up the connection

With that last comment, TO BE CLEAR, I can assure that I have top-notch internet services, and the two clients of the Destiny game running are the ONLY programs on my local wifi network that are demanding data. Titanfall 2, game with better graphics and the same maximum player count, can run just fine on our wifi.

We're also both connected by Ethernet. And chilling at a 50 Mbps down and 3.5 up as I text this message. Im guessing there is an issue with the amount of data demanded at the start of any kind of game mode. It is unrealistic in today's age to assume that no one in your player base is playing on the same network.

The only connection issue you have is self created. Two people using the same wifi at the same time, as well as whatever other strains on your network (YouTube or Netflix in the background too?) is more than your network can handle. Basically, one of you is kicking the other off the internet. This is not a Bungie or p2p issue. This is a you issue.
