I used an lfg group to get me through KF. I explained I had never raided, still new to the game and at that time I was only 1 light level over the recommended so could they teach me. They said fine, no probs.
My very first raid was Golgoroths Challenge. I asked for advice on my weapons. No answers. I asked for help on how to do each part. They advised me to kill myself at the start of each encounter and they'd five man it. Nothing was explained and in total it took us almost nine hours from start.
And now, I'm teaching myself the mechanics of each raid, weapon and subclass loadouts, and finding people I like to play with and communicate with to do them. It'll still be a hard slog but that way I can share what I've learnt with other people and hopefully pull together an accomplished and fun raid team before D2 drops.
Thanks for the advice.

9 hours..... that's like a day 1 king's fall timeframe holy crap

At the time, I didn't know any better. But we all learn. 😉

sorry man, that stinks. Sounds like you got stuck with a terrible group; Golgi's challenge is pretty simple, if they can't teach it they aren't any good themselves. Datto has good raid guides, and he just did a video about the loadouts he uses for each encounter in all of the raids, I'd recommend it if you need loadout advice.

That was a terrible team then. Should have left. Five man golgoroth challenge? Why? Challenge is easy as hell. When you do raids from now on, use these as quality assurance: *VoG: Confluxes-Templar *Crotas End: Bridge *KF: Totems *WotM: Vosik When you reach these encounters, they are the first true encounter in each raid, and I use them to see what kind of team I have. For example, Totems. It's the first true encounter in King's Fall, no boss, no DPS, but requires mechanic knowledge and teamwork. You can tell by how the team plays this what kind of raid is ahead of you. If they are struggling here, or barely when complete it, it's gonna be a long night. It sounds like a dick move, but if they can't even get these parts, you're better off finding a new crew.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll remember that. I pulled together a team to take the other half through KF for the first time and it was two hours before he got to Warpriest so you're right about Totems. Makes me laugh when I'm upfront about experience and the rest are "yeah, done it dozens of times" but either can't explain mechanics or cause wipe after wipe (that's what has prompted my learning it all myself in theory first).

Ooooh ya, lots of "very experienced" raiders out there... I had a guy join during Aksis pt. 1 when it was the feature, and he was on right side with me. Claimed to be a raiding god, all his other groups before sucked, yadda yadda. We clear most ad's, and I down the turret, rush in, and kill the captain/the vandal or two next to him. He dies a few seconds later to the one or two remaining vandals: mind you, he's still back by the staircase. He does this like 3-4 times in a row then when the party leader asks what's going on, he tries to blame me, saying that he doesnt have any help killing ad's on right and that's why he's dying. Of course I told him off, because frankly I was doing the dangerous work and managed not to die once, and he was just like "whatever man" and got huffy, and I left soon thereafter. Lots of posers on LFG, don't take their crap long story short lol, especially if you know that you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.
