Can't log in to Destiny

Trying to log on. When I choose my character I get a message saying that I have lost connection to the Destiny servers. Is there an issue with XBox Live?

Canada wide license issue? I'm getting the same errors with party chat and "online privlage" error code vulture. Is @Bungie aware there is a problem?
