Many hardcore players will (obviously) disagree. But AoT exposed the true colors of many of these players. So we all know "why" the vocsl minority want this grind to be ridiculous again. Would they like it if this time round they DIDN'T get lucky & they didn't see goid drops for over an entire year despite running content till there eyes bled like many other players experienced. Etc. Would they still love the grind? Would the "excitement" of loot be true happiness or would it be a joy derived from abuse/starvation? What I have seen from RoI & AoT... Everyone needs to suffer & "earn" their way. Remove 3oC, quests, & etc. But when they have bad RNG, the game needs a patch or its a bug. Mini-patches with Micros that allow deeper customization, recreation, etc (this makes devs ALOT OF BANK). Or worse... Beta tests look for holes/bugs in currently finished content, test servers, and etc. Many who beta test frequently were blown away with how D1 was quite literally the beta & no changes were done at release aside from Dinklebot's voice & some dialogue removal. That poor wizard... ...he came from the moon... And got removed... I hope D2s beta is like others & allows us to experience & test 1 of every content type.
