i decided to actually PM this dude. He;s saying that he will stop because he got a warning from Cozmo. He's also saying that "he didn't know it was wrong" because he's new to the Bungie community.
WTF? Have people's parents stopped teaching that stealing is wrong and damages communities? He literally told me (through google translate, lol) that he was doing this to help the community.,
Sigh.......
EDIT: I thought about it... and I shouldn't have gotten involved. OP may have had his reasons to post this here and many of us agree that this behavior is wrong, but my specific involvement, though non-offensive and harmless, was not needed. I'm gonna try to do better next time and just stay out of stuff like this.

Maybe he thought bnet was like tumblr and was "reposting" it.
-
yeah. not my business.
-
I think it was good you and other people messaged him though. It's not like you PMd him just to call him a thief, right?
-
If he had put a credit to such and such it wouldn't have mattered. Not worth all this imo but to each their own.

I have 2 children. Never once did I feel the need to tell them that they should not post the artwork of others on a game forum. I am 100% sure that despite me never teaching them about it. That they have never done it. I am also 100% sure that 99.9% of the parents out there have never taught their children about it either.
-
yes but you have taught them not to steal, right?
-
It seems more like common sense, right? I was taught in 2nd grade that plagiarism was wrong and it was obvious even then.

Edited by Johnbaker1999: 4/21/2017 12:46:48 PMI also pm'd him (in my crappy French), he believes lots of people do it. But based on what I've seen on the forums alone, people that did it got banned, and they only posted 1 or 2 pics, he posted 24 He also says that if he does it again he'll get banned. But how do people not know something like this isn't wrong anymore? Sad
-
Honestly, I just feel like it seems petty. I know people work hard in their creations, but it's not like people get money for posts on bnet. If it were me, I imagine I'd be a little grateful that my work was being shared. I understand that people don't necessarily share my opinion, but still. I kind of see it as a "wrong but not wrong" kind of thing because it's not really doing any harm.
-
Problem is with bnet sharing it doesn't allow for any caption- so no specification that you are not the intellectual owner. Confusion can easily arise
-
Shared? Yes I'd be grateful as well, as long as they actually say who drew it. Some of the pics are really good, but we have no idea who the artist is. As is, the poster could just take credit for it, and that's kind of harmful. Plus we have no idea if the artists actually wanted it to get out, maybe they wanted to share it with friends or wanted to inprove the piece
-
Agreed. I messaged him and got a similar response. I'm equally surprised that people aren't taught that this kind of thing is wrong.
-
You would wonder how much people like that exist.
-
You ever look at someone and thought? They were the strongest swimmer?
