Expectations Shouldn't Be Through The Roof For Destiny 2's Story

(The video above is something I made that dives deeper into this topic) This might just be me being a bit cynical but I don't have a lot of faith in Bungie's ability to properly utilize Destiny's great lore to craft story missions that aren't what they mainly were in Destiny 1. There are a variety of reasons for that but it's mainly because I had my expectations shattered in the first game. It left a sour taste in my mouth and the 2-3 years post launch didn't seek to improve the story by THAT much beyond what they felt was capable given how the base game was designed. Ultimately I don't think Destiny 2 will be a re-imagining of the franchise so far as much as it will be a simple evolution of game mechanics around a tried-and-true yet disappointingly familiar story structure. I hope I'm wrong but at least this way I won't be soul-crushed expecting more like I did with Destiny 1
