Destiny 2 Gear

Ok, to be honest, I never really post stuff on forums a lot, but this has kind of been sitting on my mind and I'd like to hear some thoughts on it. As we all now, none of our gear will transfer over to Destiny 2. This is a fact, and it saddens me to no end, and I say this only because.... DANG, did I spend time trying to find the perfect guns for my playstyle! It really was a mess, and nothing seemed to really suit me, until I got myself a decent roll on a Grasp of Malok, in addition to a titan that I loved playing as, did I finally feel a little bit of completion. This feeling finally came right as the news hit that none of it was coming with. So this got me thinking... well shit. I tried so hard just to feel accomplished, maybe do well in the crucible, all to not take it with, yeah no. This brought me to the somewhat logical conclusion that every character who has completed the Black Garden story mission will not only carry over their looks but one legendary rarity or lower primary weapon. Let me explain. When you were attacked in the tower at the beginning of destiny 2, you will still have the gun on your back, and in this case, that would be the primary weapon of your choice, you know, what you fought the battle with, but then all of the rest was lost. I wouldn't take exotics with, just because those seem to be held to a higher standard and they really should probably stay behind. But one primary of legendary rarity or lower would be awesome. Just food for thought. By the way, I am all in favor of destiny 2, and will support and have already set aside the money to preorder it, and will get over this if I have to. I just want to hear some thoughts on this. Thanks!

  • The assumption you have is that we start before or during the fight, untouched and unhurt. Ready to fight. For all we know we may wake up in the aftermath, hurt and separated, or the game will simply ignore whatever we had and start us off with a generic default weapon we have to find and pick up, like we do at the beginning of D1. Secondly, the problem with this is that Bungie would have to support basically every primary they've ever made plus the new ones, and that's not something they can do very well because it affects performance. It's kinda counter to one of the reasons I think they decided to leave weapons behind. Pretty quickly we would have to be forced to lose those guns permanently or else it will always pose a performance problem.
