Sigh. I'll just be blunt. People are complaining because they can't be OP & they have a bad case of nostalgia. It is funny how this community can be summed up by the picture of a snake eating its own tail. So back in Year 1 when Light was a stat on gear folks complained we all looked the same. Then, once folks began to clear raids it reached a point where you needed the same 3 weapons. Basically everyone was exactly the same. All gear had become placeholders for specific weapons & armor. Bungie agreed with the community that things needed to change. What was the point if we all looked the same, had the same weapons, & played the same? It made 90% of the gear in game worthless. And there was no variety. You saw snarky posts about folks mot having _ weapon being kicked or not allowed to group. How if you don't have __ you are pulling the team down. Etc... So they took away elements from primaries & suddenly lots of primaries became viable. Like it or hate it. I personally like it as it made my weapons acceptable. Back in HoW folks wouldn't take you into PoE 32+ unless you had the holy trinity, fatebringer, or some raid weapon. I had a God Rolled Red Hand IX, Supremacy, & a good selection of RLs & Machine Guns. But nope. You needed to be able to burn for every slot. No elemental primary? Get good scrub. No black hammer? Unacceptable. (Some let Icebreaker fill in.) No Gjallarhorn? Tough. No Skolas for you. Anyways enough on that. I find it funny that a few weeks ago people were saying that they'd like Elemental Primaries to return, they'd even accept them as exotics like Zhalo. They would accept a long tedious quest to get them. Now they got them. And it's a crime because they are exotics. Folks say the game is too easy & there is no real decision in loadouts. But now they complain they can't have the old OP Holy Trinity Loadouts which would honestly would make the game even easier. But nope, Bungie is not listening apparently. Now with elemental primaries being exotic you need to think & plan what weapon is worth the exotic slot. This is apparently unacceptable. People wanted the old raids updated. Done. And now its a crime cause it isn't brand new made from scratch content. Folks wanted Nightfall blue flame back. Done. And it is a crime because the NF doesn't waste time by sending you to orbit so apparently the flame & its buff is meaningless. *rolls eyes* Folks wanted to look different but be viable in content. Bungie made gear infusable. Which apparently was a crime because now anyone could hit max light under specific conditions with any pc of gear. Not trying to take up for Bungo as they make decisions that baffles many people. But they need to keep balance in game. They need/have to make some tough decisions. They can never please everyone.

  • Ok. Just ran the Crota raid. Have all the adept weapons now. Sadly can't think of any time I would actually equip them in the raid. Whoever marked this post as an "answer" clearly doesn't raid much. Everyone runs one of two sniper archetypes. Yes they have different names but are not different but for the perks. That's not weapon diversity. Everyone who runs hand cannons runs 81 impact HCs differentiated only by perkset. And next week we'll all be running non exotic fatebringer IIs once we get them and a sword for much of the raid. Dark drinker/raze lighter got added to the load out but the Crota raid is now really a dark drinker/ghorn choice for the exotic slot. Bearing out what I've written before I never once thought of using the raid specific exotic weapon with the raid specific perks. Sad. Diversity? No more diversity there, just trophies cluttering my vault. Only one worthwhile weapon from the raid. The non exotic hunger of crota the once and still best non exotic rocket launcher in the game for times you have to equip black spindle. But if it were exotic it would be gathering dust in the vault as my shiny new raid exotic elemental primaries already are.

  • Why? Because it doesn't deserve an exotic slot Just because it has a burn doesn't qualify to be exotic if it had a special perk like maverick red death and wolfpack rounds If zhalo didn't had that weak version of bad juju people would use better guns

  • Despite what I've said about Exotics in the past, the Adept weapons should stay Exotics because they have burns and some have straight up guaranteed god rolls (Fatebringer, Vision, Fang). You don't come across those every day. I predict people will find some legendary solutions to things like Gjallarhorn.

  • No wall of text - I just agree. This community loves to complain... I'm just trying to iron out if they actually complain more when they don't get what they want or when they do get what they want...

I'll stop you right at the beginning bud. Elements didn't make the weapons op at all. Also, if you didnt have good guns, why should you deserve to do end game content. Hard raids and PoE 32 were end game content, so if you think you should be able to walk into the hardest PvE content in the game with vendor weapons, you got what you deserved, the boot. I was able to do Hard raid, but I had to do Norm first for a good amount of time until I got the Black Hammer. This let me into Hard Raids, and I got the elemental primaries. PoE then came after, a progression as you get good weapons. I liked the RNG. The longer you played the game, and the more often you did the raids, the more you were rewarded. I did the raids on all 3 characters every week. Sick and tired of all the dumb noobs complaining about getting booted for being underleveled with shìt weapons.

  •
I'll stop you right at the beginning bud. Elements didn't make the weapons op at all. Also, if you couldn't get your hands on an elemental primary, you didnt deserve to do skolas, period. Raids and PoE were end game content, so if you think you should be able to walk into the hardest PvE content in the game with vendor weapons, you got what you deserved, the boot. Sick and tired of all the dumb noobs complaining about getting booted for being underleveled with shìt weapons.
So the elemental primaries weren't OP; effectively making them the same strength as every other primary? ...but they were required in order to be even be eligible to step foot in endgame content (Skolas in particular) is what you are saying? Why is that? Secondly, how do you obtain these weapons if you must have them to even have a chance at getting them? They only dropped in endgame content, but to be worthy of endgame content you needed them. Just to clear the air... My weapons were not Vendor Rolls btw. Some of them were vendor brand, yes. But they came from packages & were God rolled. (Every now & then I get lucky...) Back then I seem to remember the top % of players saying how easy content had become. (Kind of like now if you really think about it. Folks say things are easy, well...that is what happens when you grow in power...) The top % wanted more challenge but were/are extremely reluctant to let go of the loadouts that allow/ed them steamroll those challenges. Also, don't twist my words. I never said underleveled/undergeared players should run endgame. Many players were well geared, had maxed exotics, subclasses, etc. But they were excluded for not having 1 item or in some cases, not having a specific loadout. And when that item/loadout is obtained by pure RNG well...to say that they are not worthy to run content is like saying: "If you weren't born into a rich family then you don't deserve to have money." So like many asked in Yr1, how does/did one become worthy? Many grinded the proper content but never got a drop. How does one force RNG to deem them worthy? Or maybe...it was all nothing more than just luck in the first place? That is a bitter pill to swallow.... "Become Legend"...by chance. But I digress. I didn't post to have a war of words with people nor to argue with you over the past vices of this game. My post was meant to point out that folks have literally been getting what they asked for yet they now are saying what they asked for is some great betrayal/crime/lie/ whatever by Bungie. That folks have been both asking for methods that allow them to trivialize gameplay/make gameplay easier, yet they also want gameplay to remain challenging. Debatably at the expense of everyone else...

  • The original post was my brother. What he said was pretty dumb, I agree. Check the repost and see if you agree. Now, onto where you said you needed an Elemental Primary, Black Hammer and Gjally to do PoE 32. This is only partially true, and its as it should be. To get into PoE 32, it was pretty easy to find groups that didnt require Gjally. I would know, I did it all the time. I didnt get Gjally until like 3 weeks before Xur sold it, which pissed me off so badly. As for saying elemental primaries and Black Hammer were required, they werent both required. Yes, elemental primaries were, but for a lot of people that alone was enough. And they should be required. If you played it smart and put time in, it wasnt that hard to get Black Hammer and an elemental primary. By play it smart, I mean do VoG on Normal and Hard Mode, and do the same for Crota. I did Crota and VoG on Normal, then I also did them both on Hard. VoC and Atheons Epilogue can be earned on Normal and Hard, so thats 6 chances for those two each week, as well as for Found Verdict. This is coupled with 3 chances for Fatebringer, Praedyths Timepiece and Vex Mythoclast. On Crota, 6 chances for Black Hammer and Swordbreaker, 3 for Word of Crota, Oversoul Edict, Fang of Ir Yut and the other elemental primaries. It wasnt very hard to get one elemental primary with all those chances.

I agree, but the trials "adept" weapons aren't exotic, and trials is practically the raid of pvp. I'd like my trials weapons to have elemental burns again. I'm only upset at bungies choice of wording. Why make them exotic "adept" weapons when they're just elemental primary exotics. If they're so full of light why aren't they "radiant" exotics? The choice to give them the same surname as the trials flawless weapons confuses me. My trials "adept" weapons don't have elemental burns, or take up an exotic slot. Hell, as far as I can tell they're gold painted and have snapshot and that's it. I feel that these exotic primaries should at least get another non raid essential intrinsic perk or that the trials "adept" weapons should be held to the same standard, like they were in year 1. That or change the name from "adept" to "radiant" or whatever fanciful word deej pulls at random from a hat. Make a clear distinction.

  • I agree the rewards need work, but I like the raid and 4v4. Raid is fun, and unique, offers more than just standing in a group shooting a bullet sponge. And 4v4 makes me actually have to pay attention to where my team is and where the enemy team is.

  • I never had any trouble on LFG. But, I also did the work to get the gear. I also created my own fireteams and kept them open to anyone. I miss elemental primaries, and am glad they are back. My issue is they are exotic. Id rather have an elemental consumable that adds a burn to a weapon than an exotic.
