Looking at your stats (stick with me, this isn't a rip on you), it looks to me like you engage in primary fights as a default, and use your special to back you up or give you a situational edge. I fight very similarly. What I would project happened to you was 2-fold. First, the type of special that you preferred (didn't look) was likely not a sidearm before the patch, meaning the ammo change has a perceived negative impact on it. Second, everyone is doing what everyone always does, and is scrambling for the gun that gives them a 2% better chance to win, meaning you are encountering a lot of sidearms. Don't feel like you have to use one too. Even if you lose ammo on death, there is a 50% or better chance that you can have ammo again within 30 seconds of any respawn in every game, so don't let that hold you back. Also, shotguns are still good, fusions are still good, snipers are still good, sidearms are exactly the same as they have always been: there's no reason not to give the game the middle finger and use what you want anyways. Other than a tiny blip on respawn, nothing has functionally changed, unless you were and airiel shotgunner, and even then, learn to slide and you'll be fine. This is the first week of the patch, things are crazy now, but they will settle soon. Play the game, don't let the game play you.

  • What you stated is how I've been playing since patch, and my preferred playstyle.

  • Holy shit. That type of clear minded rational response is not welcome around here.

  • try to inplement this when the other team is camping the ammo crates for one , two the respawn may work once or twice but most of the time you have to stand there waiting for the count down and end up getting shot any way. Imo just a totally shit decision on bugies end, was a lot more fun and balanced the way it was

  • I get that, and I used sidearms before they were cool...lol...my point is that was not the right change to the game imo the primary changes were good, but the rest wasn't necessary at all.

  • In a weird way, I have to disagree with you while agreeing with you. The changes aren't the best way to go, and they didn't get them done correctly, with sidearms maintaining an economy advantage at all times. The bottom line is, something did need to be done to make it more appealing to use a primary than a special at all times, because they were out of control. I would venture to say they had been out of control for some time (sniper meta, shotgun meta, shotgun meta, etc). My suggestion was to make special users take 20% more damage from primaries after having one readied for more than 5 second, and make heavy users take 20% more damage from specials after 5 seconds at the ready, while adding 30 seconds to the special crate spawn time. Swapping weapons immediately removes the damage penalty, until the gun was readied for another 5 seconds. A lot of people disliked that idea, but I wonder in retrospect if they might not prefer it now.

  • If they properly nerfed the shotguns the problem would have been solved, now they still have the op shot guns although slightly hindered by ammo leaving them as second choice, and added sidearms as the new op go to special.

  • Shotguns weren't op, maybe year 1 with shot package. It was the ammo supply, map design, and movement abilities that made them seem op. You could argue that sidearms are op now that they've taken the place of shotguns but bungie didn't change anything about them. Its just your perception of the game skewed by all the horrible past metas we've had. Leaves a sour taste.

  • That was actually one of the major things I thought of. A shotgun should still put one down pretty effectively as it is.

  • It would end up hurting something else, mark my words. Those boys need to go back to studying coding best practices. You get fired where I work if you mess up that badly.
