For the record I think 6s is in decent shape right now but it could be better. Trials is broken in my opinion.
My solution, as the title suggests is to give us a set number of rounds in our chosen special weapon to use as we see fit.
I don't want to get too caught up in the actual number of rounds but let's say for argument sake it is 8 each for sniper (including NLB), voop and shottie in a game of Trials and maybe 12 for 6s . If you change weapons mid game then you lose it all.
This would force people to think about when they use it vs when they use their primaries. There would be 4 broad approaches:
- Go ham early doors and spunk it all up the wall (most likely me).
- Pace yourself using a bit here and there.
- Be frugal and use it only when absolutely necessary.
- Save it til the end when most people have none and make it rain.
I think this would make special ammo special, create a lot of primary usage, make both 6s and 3s more enjoyable and balanced and allow a variety of different team tactics.
Icebreaker and invective present an issue here but I'm sure there could be a decent work around to this, maybe increase the time of the ammo generation or cap the total number per game at 20% higher than the rest.
TL;DR Give everyone a set amount of special ammo to use as they see fit throughout the game. No special boxes, no swapping to a sidearm to get ammo.

If we are to be limited on special ammo this is the way to go. All special weapons would be viable. I would like the option of changing my special at least once though. If I look down a hallway and see six sniper scopes staring back at me I am switching to a shotgun and pushing. If I'm being bum rushed by shotguns I'm switching to back peddling with a fusion.
