What everybody seems to miss...
The problem is not that all people are running around with Sidearms.
The problem is that after over two years of rebalancing this game, we finally have reached a state where Sidearms are the best gun it he game.
This is the sole reason why people run them.
The game is so broken now, that sidearms outgun everything.
Oh, and the joke Sniper NLB is now the best one.
Or to put it differently, which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing... anybody else saying Last Man Standing?
Update:
Some people argue it's because of ammo. This only explains why people use Sidearms and not some other special.
My point is: why use sidearms if primaries (Handcannons, Pulses) are better? Because in the 20m range no Primary outguns a Sidearm.

This is not a nerf posting. I just want to show that if you cut everything down, dwarfs become suddenly giants.

15 RepliesBullshit. Sidearms are used because of the ammo and NLB is used because it's the only sniper that always has ammo. At the end it all comes down to which weapon is a ohk weapon and if there is no ohk weapon for the special slot, use the one that has ammo. Simple.

Wow i don't see it that way. Side arms are ok . But this game Finally became a game of primaries!!! Hey a shooters game were you have to shoot face, no gimmicks sliding shot guns or a melee from and other zip code. Yeppers i like the patch.

4 RepliesSidearms were [i]always[/i] very good. It's just that people went for the OHK specials like Snipers and Shotty's. You couldn't get anyone to use them or put down their Shotguns long enough to see that they were epic rapid fire guns. Of course now they are in the spotlight. The thing I think is ridiculous? I never thought I'd see a day where the Uni Remote and No Land would be considered "OP".

3 RepliesI won't say they are the best, but being able to run a whole match with almost 100 rounds of side arm ammo is hilarious. And given the dps they do it's hard for people to not rush with them. After all unless you also have a side arm they win regardless if they trade with you or kill you. I use a queens choice as my preferred side arm. It's powerful, but requires great skill to be consistently lethal, even at close range, even more skill with those medium range kills.

14 RepliesI didnt want to but i had to try my ironwreath-D for the first time today. I had to fire loads of shots (missing half of them) to kill anyone. Ended up getting most of my kills with my Finnala's peril every game anyway. I find sidearms hard to use. Anyone else feel the same thing?

Usually the meta takes some time to develop. Took like a day. Worst patch ever. Oh yeah and if you try to point this out people come out out of no where to insult you.

played a few games and had no problem dealing with sidearm users, then again i played clash and not those wanna-be competitive modes

It is not that Sidearms are now the best. What we have now is a direct result of limiting special ammo. How could you see any different?

If ammo for side arms got the same nurf as the others no one would use them it's that simple. Bungie has a way of making you play the way and the weapons they want you to play.

I wanted to point this out too. How far this game has fallen. We would collectively laugh when someone was awarded a no land beyond at Crota. The worst gun in the game has become the meta. Bungie has nerfed everything into the ground 😂

1 ReplyThey have to reset everything to Year 1 parameters and start balancing from there BUT separating PvP from PvE when buffing/nerfing things. Of course this is NEVER gonna happen, let's just hope they learn with the mistakes they made (don't hold your breath on this, though).

38 RepliesThey're just the best because they have ammo. They need to remove the reload glitch and maybe reduce the mag size on NLB. And, they need to make it so that sidearms only spawn with 20 ammo like they normally would if you died with no ammo. And, icebreaker needs a longer ammo respawn time (I think 12 seconds or 1.5x what it has now)

It just seemed stupid powerful because everything else had been whittled down. When I first got a MIDA in Y1 I thought it was unique, handled fantastically and was really good, but it never struck me as unfair as it had stuff like Thorn, Bad Juju, The Last Word and SUROS Regime keeping it in line alongside an array of Legendaries like Shadow Price, The Devil You Know, NitC and such.
