The problem is not that all people are running around with Sidearms.
The problem is that after over two years of rebalancing this game, we finally have reached a state where Sidearms are the best gun it he game.
This is the sole reason why people run them.
The game is so broken now, that sidearms outgun everything.
Oh, and the joke Sniper NLB is now the best one.
Or to put it differently, which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing... anybody else saying Last Man Standing?
Update:
Some people argue it's because of ammo. This only explains why people use Sidearms and not some other special.
My point is: why use sidearms if primaries (Handcannons, Pulses) are better? Because in the 20m range no Primary outguns a Sidearm.
Update 2:
This is not a nerf posting. I just want to show that if you cut everything down, dwarfs become suddenly giants.
Update 3:
http://guardian.gg/en/weapon-stats?platform=2&start=2017-02-17&end=2017-02-20&mode=14&activity=0
This week in Trials: 30% of all kills Sidearms, 23% of all kills Snipers - Welcome to the Primary Meta
-
I've been using NLB since ROI dropped because I've never been good with it and want to learn to use it better. I'm using Sidearms now, because I've always been a shotty/voop user before, as they were the better weapons. So now Sidearms are in and I want to have some fun with them as well as finally get around to unlocking the grimoire for sidearm kills.
-
Lol, I was thinking the same thing the other day. Two weapons that were considered a joke 18 months ago are now the best weapons in the game. I remember when you got a no land beyond in any end game activity people laughed at you and you immediately dismantled it. This time last week side arms contributed about %2 of pvp kills now there everywhere. This I probably the end point of destiny pvp. When two joke weapons become the best through constant nerfs of more powerful weapons.

Radar with my blink
-
It's a lot more simple than that, we miss the fun.
-
I ran into some NLB users but only a small percentage. I went flawless after about 4 cards- only died by a NLB one time because I was stupid and walked in front of a hard scoper. Most of my battles were against hand cannons or pulses. Sidearms didn't even pop up that much. I mean reading the forums, I can't even believe it because what ppl are saying- basically it's describing a completely different experience than what I've had this week. The game is in a good place, finally, after a long long time.
-
its the same problem that has existed for the entire life of the game. If special weapons are going to have ammo at all times then they need to be balanced against primaries and their rolls need to be clearly defined. If they aren't going to have abundant ammo, stop trying to balance them against primaries. Un-nerf everything and just limit ammo. Hovering in between the two scenarios just keeps the meta in purgatory.
-
which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing
Scouts (MIDA excluded) have only ever been buffed. People still don't use them.
-
Try the Stolen Pride with explosive rounds and perfect balance with range finder or rifled barrel.
-
Think people are over reacting so much. Besides the "unintended" perks that were touched...this patch is fine at least for sixes. I haven't played trials or elim yet.
-
I've been using predominantly ARs, the mid impact type since I started playing PvP in the second half of ttk. Before that I was mostly a PvE player dropping in for the occasion match. I went from a .8 to a 1.1 lifetime using ARs. And guess what, I'll still use em. I've been telling people sidearms are amazing since I got the vestian. They've always been amazing, everyone just flocked ohk weapons so they got mostly forgotten except by the top 1%who are now going to abuse you all with them even more. LOL!
-
There "op" because u can just of how forgiving and easy to use they are
-
Stopped reading after, "Sidearms are the best weapon in the game".
-
Would the real NLB user please stand up.

I liked when everyone pushed but the problem was that all they used was shotguns and now they've been made even worse and even more inconsistent. I could "adapt to the changes" in 2 days maybe less or more depending on how I'm playing but I don't want to adapt cause its boring to me titanfall 2 is much more fun and that's where I'll be for a while. I've never really take a big break from destiny or said that I won't be back if they mess up the next update but the "spring update" teased a while back better be good and if it's not
by destiny
-
I hate crucible and it's even worse when bungo dictates which weapon to use.
-
This is what all of you miss
GAME DESTINY JA DOES YEARS I DO NOT HAVE ANY HEAVY WEAPON OF THE YEAR 1 JA MAKES THE END OF CROTA AND CRYSTAL CAMERA VARIOUS AND SEVERAL TIMES AND NEVER CAME A HEAVY WEAPON, WANTED A LOT TO GJALLARHORN, MORE TO PRA DESISTI BECAUSE SHE NEVER COMES, PRISON OF THE ANCIENTS YEAR 1 I JUST DID SEVERAL TIMES ALSO AND NOW NOTHING THAT GAME TA SACANAGEM WITH MY FRIENDS JA HAVE THE HEAVY WEAPONS OF THE YEAR 1 AND I HAVE NO STILL THAT SACK BUNGIE IMPROVES TO MY REWARDS
My favorite thing is when I hit a NLB with 2-3 heavy machine gun bullets yet he still snipes me through the flinch.
What everybody seems to miss..
Uh, Year 1?

Edited by AngryMachin: 2/19/2017 3:28:53 AMI've always loved sidearms. I've used them exclusively as a secondary since HOW.
-
All they need to do is allow players to keep the mag of their special weapon after dying. For instance, after dying from having a longbow equipped, keep whatever is in the mag and lose your reserve. I believe this is the best option to keep crucible as best as possible
-
Shotguns (my favorite Invective) will still wreck if you're good at map awareness and flanking for a 3v3 situation like Skirmish (I don't do trials, so I don't care about it). If you kill them, you still alive, so you keep regenerating special. Don't mind the changes in 6v6's either.
-
I think the core problem is the special ammo change. Revert that and you'll see special weapons other than sidearms being used again
-
Sidearms definitely aren't the best weapon. Right now, they are only common due to special ammo. They can be easily countered.
-
They certainly didn't like the fact that players were not using their beloved sidearms, not enough players anyway. They decided this would be the best way to convince the masses that they LOVED sidearms all along, they just didn't know it 😉
-
I find it funny that bungie introduced side arms in HoW and they kept trying to get people to use them since their release but they finally got people using them by nerfing everything else!
