What everybody seems to miss...
The problem is not that all people are running around with Sidearms.
The problem is that after over two years of rebalancing this game, we finally have reached a state where Sidearms are the best gun it he game.
This is the sole reason why people run them.
The game is so broken now, that sidearms outgun everything.
Oh, and the joke Sniper NLB is now the best one.
Or to put it differently, which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing... anybody else saying Last Man Standing?
Update:
Some people argue it's because of ammo. This only explains why people use Sidearms and not some other special.
My point is: why use sidearms if primaries (Handcannons, Pulses) are better? Because in the 20m range no Primary outguns a Sidearm.

This is not a nerf posting. I just want to show that if you cut everything down, dwarfs become suddenly giants.

I know they won't, but I think they should get rid of special ammo in PvP altogether. Including regenerating special weapons. It won't be perfect since ability spam will be a problem but with the updates they've been giving thus far it seems like that's what they want to do, they're just too scared to take that plunge.

The problem is they made the game a primary game at the end of its life cycle meanwhile this is a patch they should have started with if this was the trend they wanted.

24 RepliesWhy is anyone complaining? I'd rather get killed with a side arm anyday than some douche who thinks he's a God cause he runs around with a jug shield and a shotgun. At least with side arms you have to make sure you hit your damn shots opposed to scoping someone with a matador 64 using hip fire.

No reason to use anything but a side arm right now. I don't even equip a primary in PvP anymore. Nice job Bungie.

3 RepliesI love sidearms. I haven't played pvp since way before the recent patch but there were plenty of times where I'd run with my Hung Jury and a Jabberhakkë. It's great just switching and wrecking someone charging you. Nothing more satisfying then putting a few scout shots in a Bladedancer and when they get close enough let them eat the entire mag of your sidearm. I know I've pissed off at least a couple Bladedancers by doing that.

Luck grinds? Obviously NLB and a sidearm is a very powerful combo, it ALWAYS was....the idea of change has uncovered it's potential. A one shot kill is just good math. The rest is just to be sure.

Uhmmm... Respectfully, I couldn't disagree with you more. The moment that sidearms became a choice for a special weapon, I picked one up and haven't put it down. Sidearms are amazing and not because of the new patch. Screw shotguns, screw fusions, screw snipers. Sidearms are where it's at, and have always been where its at. People will realize that now. You've got your primary for mid-long range and sidearm for mid-short range. Pumping out an F ton of bullets, with an F ton of damage over a very short period of time? Seams quite obvious... 2 RepliesPre patch the side arm was crap had to empty almost a full mag into the face to get them to drop. NLB bolt action in a close fire fight isn't fun to use, the iron sights WTF.

2 RepliesThe problem is people suck! Sidearms aren't a ohk gun, they are as strong/weak as they were before the patch. Nothing has changed with primaries in the last patch that warrants the overuse of sidearms. If sidearms were designed for anything it was to give long range primary users a strong cqc option to defend against hand cannons and autos. So what changed, why are people using sidearms as primary backed by NLB?! Because they f-ing suck! People abused the shit out of ohk specials so much bungie was forced to make another shity nerf patch and with the way it's going I foresee another one in the near future. Cheap players are as much to blame as bungie for the current state of the game. If people stopped going on line to Google "destiny new meta/most OP build" hitting copy and running the same layout as everyone else we wouldn't be in this situation. RIP wormwood, it was fun but the sheeple have finally come to spoil the fun 👎

I've been using NLB since ROI dropped because I've never been good with it and want to learn to use it better. I'm using Sidearms now, because I've always been a shotty/voop user before, as they were the better weapons. So now Sidearms are in and I want to have some fun with them as well as finally get around to unlocking the grimoire for sidearm kills.
