What everybody seems to miss...
The problem is not that all people are running around with Sidearms.
The problem is that after over two years of rebalancing this game, we finally have reached a state where Sidearms are the best gun it he game.
This is the sole reason why people run them.
The game is so broken now, that sidearms outgun everything.
Oh, and the joke Sniper NLB is now the best one.
Or to put it differently, which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing... anybody else saying Last Man Standing?
Update:
Some people argue it's because of ammo. This only explains why people use Sidearms and not some other special.
My point is: why use sidearms if primaries (Handcannons, Pulses) are better? Because in the 20m range no Primary outguns a Sidearm.

This is not a nerf posting. I just want to show that if you cut everything down, dwarfs become suddenly giants.

If I may, the special ammo change opened up a hole, so to speak for me. I'm more attentive and alert every grab. So ya side arms are strong to use, but I feel more rewarded taking a risk with weapons I normally feel comfortable with. Noticing better plays all around too. Quite the meta.

You don't get why they are the best in the game. They are the best because a necessary ammo rebalance occurred, but it didn't happen to sidearms. That is the only issue. Same with no land beyond, but it needs to have ammo, so it should be nerfed in mag size or reload glitch fixed

We didn't have an issue with special weapons being overused back in year 1 so they created this problem

Yea well, it sucks and i'm not playing crucible or destiny in general anymore, so good job bungie for chasing away dedicated fans ( all my friends by the way pretty much quit because of No land beyond, god roll side arms and lame hand canons being so over powerd.

Side arms aren't that good. I'm out gunning side arms with primaries no problem. I think most people are using them because they are so dependent on using special weapons. Outside of trespassers perk kicking in side arms aren't op.

bump i have run the jabbahakke for close quarters (couldnt beat shotguns though)since it was put in the game and i just feel dirty using it now bcus everybody as been pushed to side arms bcus of the ammo screw up by bungie.

To all the reasonable people from year one let that sink in, this has went completely off the rails. We've hit the point where people want side arm and no land beyond nerfs. I hope this authors post catches some steam.

I think it is mainly because of special ammo. If you could have a sniper, shotgun, or fusion rifle, I think that people would run that. (Keep in mind that with needs, it would have to be a perfect roll shotgun now). I think you can add evidence to the fact that it's the ammo issue by the amount of No Land Beyonds that you see. People would rather have a sniper as their primary than an actual primary. If sidearms were really the best gun, people would use sidearms and nothing else. Further evidence is the prevalence of Icebreaker. In my experience, anyone who has the option to use Icebreaker over a sidearm, uses Icebreaker.

I still run sniper as I have since year one, glad they brought my icebreaker back lol used that gun so much back then. Hand cannons and sidearms are easily countered though. Just use a auto riffle. Out shoots sidearms and hand cannon users have trouble landing their shots lol quite entertaining to see actually

Side arms were always godly. Just no one could use them. I had my 5000 kills grimoire done not long after TTk dropped.

Sidearms do not outgun everything. That may be the dumbest comment I have ever seen on the forums. Try the doctrine of passing or unbent tree. No sidearm can compete with them at any range.

Um, no. 20 meters? Do you even know how far that is? 10m is about the max effective range of the vast majority of sidearms, and that's with range and accuracy perks. Even there, it's a pretty even match between sidearms and primaries. Sidearms just give you some ammo after you die, that's the only reason we're seeing them so much more now. That's not to say that the special ammo beef was a bit heavy handed. But claiming that sidearms are overpowered all of a sudden? Come on now.

Side arms were always good. Now it will be the only thing I run as a secondary. Shotguns might still be usable but im not using shotguns anymore. I never use snipers and the fact that u loose ammo when u die will retire my fusion rifle career as well.

It's about time sidearms got a chance to shine. Every weapon type should get their moment in the sun at least once.

Sidearms were awesome since hakke was introduced, most people just never gave them a chance because they were too busy shotgun rushing or camping with their snipers. They aren't just suddenly good because everything else got neutered, they were always good but skated below the radar of most people before now.

I was on patheon in private with my buddy.. and we were in the cube area across standing i front of the pillars. Found out/noticed. My Tea Cup tempest crit for 31 and my max stat pali only hit for 29! BROKEN
