What everybody seems to miss...
The problem is not that all people are running around with Sidearms.
The problem is that after over two years of rebalancing this game, we finally have reached a state where Sidearms are the best gun it he game.
This is the sole reason why people run them.
The game is so broken now, that sidearms outgun everything.
Oh, and the joke Sniper NLB is now the best one.
Or to put it differently, which two weapons have never been touched by any rebalancing... anybody else saying Last Man Standing?
Update:
Some people argue it's because of ammo. This only explains why people use Sidearms and not some other special.
My point is: why use sidearms if primaries (Handcannons, Pulses) are better? Because in the 20m range no Primary outguns a Sidearm.

This is not a nerf posting. I just want to show that if you cut everything down, dwarfs become suddenly giants.

6 RepliesThis game has been out since sept 2014 and they're still rebalancing and reworking the guns. If I work in a job where after 2 years I still couldn't get the tasks done correctly, I would get sacked. These people are Incompetent.

What's ridiculous to me, is even nearing the end of Destiny 1 we still seem to be beta testing for them. I don't understand who is their quality assurance people. But so many glitches, makes you think it was done on purpose idk just a thought

4 RepliesMy theory is that Bungie reviewed their server stats of all game play and noticed sidearms never had their time in the sun. They devised a way to ensure sidearms were actually useful before the end of Destiny's tenure, solely because nobody would be able to say,"I don't know why sidearms were even made for this game. Rarely anybody used them."

People needed a substitute for their mentality to rush with a shotgun, all bungie did was give them ammo to resplendent with, more range and instead of missing a bullet and it being all over you now have over 10 to replace said missed bullet

5 Repliesheres the problem people want to come into crucible and shoot people want to respawn and get right back in the action nobody wants to go searching for special ammo boxes constantly after respawn thats why we are all running sidearms they didnt get buffed but id rather use weapons with ammo than go searching for ammo while i could be shooting opponents it's frustrating enough doing it with heavy and no matter how much bungie tries you simply cant make pvp all about primary weapons humanity craves variety no matter what so unless the put it back to the way it was you will see more sidearms and icebreakers even die hard shotgunners will switch soon its just too boring using primaries alone

Sidearms still have their problems though. They can be highly inaccurate when using the higher RoF guns. They have immense damage falloff. Some are not hitscan while others are. But they can easily be op

I just wrote about NLB myself. Spot on, NLB is went from worst exotic in the game to most likely to the most used and most likely to be nerfed in the future. If you had told someone in January 2015 that one day NLB would be king they would have called you the biggest idiot on the forums. And here we are. Why keep the one exotic weapon equipped at a time rule at this point?

If I may, the special ammo change opened up a hole, so to speak for me. I'm more attentive and alert every grab. So ya side arms are strong to use, but I feel more rewarded taking a risk with weapons I normally feel comfortable with. Noticing better plays all around too. Quite the meta.
