I have soloed many strikes in the first two years that I played, but since the release of rise of iron you can no longer solo the strike playlists. Every strike now has matchmaking and it used to be that you only needed to set your fire team to closed and it would not add randoms but now you get them every f***ing time...

I think soloing strikes is a good way to test your skill. So far I can beat Wretched Eye (heroic and Nightfall), Valus Ta'aurc (Nightfall), and S.A.B.E.R. (twice normal).
