Knights Among Light Chapter 5: Eyes Up

Chapter 4: https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Post/1371758/221604673/0/0 Knights Among Light Chapter V: Eyes Up --The Paris Base-- Strenu held Artemis in his arms, her blighted blood running down his hands. Shadowshot looked and began to cry. He had done this. He had shot her. Strenu looked towards Shadowshot. He then put her on the ground. He took a knife from his belt and pressed it to Shadowshot’s face. The anger flowing within Strenu was clear. “You murdered her!” Strenu yelled towards the Hunter. “You took her from us!” “No, Strenu! No, I didn’t…” Shadowshot stopped speaking as the Warlock lowered his knife. “It wasn’t my fault Strenu! It was an accident! I didn’t know!” The lock spun around and yelled some curses into the air. “God dammit SS! You ‘accidentally’ perfectly aimed and fired a gun into her skull!” “Do you want me to leave?!?” Shadowshot asked. “You want me to leave eh?!?” “Well I would prefer if the murderer of my best friend- a girl- A GIRL I LOVED!- was dead.” Strenu said. “But you know what- leave… just go” “Whatever you say General.” Shadowshot responded. “I SAID GO!” With that order, Shadowshot, now once again Incertus, ran away and towards the ruins of the City of Lights. He stopped upon reaching the Louvre. He looked at his reflection in the glass pyramid. He removed his helmet. He thought to himself, seeing his eyes for the first time in a long time. What have I become? He asked himself looking at the glass. Night had fallen over the city. Then something flashed in the sky. He looked up from the glass pyramid. Concordat ships had jumped out of lightspeed. Then Shadowshot heard a voice. He turned around. He was struck in the face by a fist. The Hunter fell to the ground, bleeding from the hit. Suddenly, two Concordat Hunters picked him up by his shoulders. He looked up, it was then he saw who punched him. It was Lysander, the leader of the Concordat. “Eyes up Guardian!” Lysander roared. Shadowshot looked upwards. “I expected you to be a bit taller.” The Hunter said to the warlord, trying to lighten the mood. Shadowshot could hear a faint voice in his head. I did too. Pretty short, actually. Thanks for killing me by the way. Being a spirit is so much better than being alive, thank you. Lysander then grabbed him by the face, which had a slight look of confusion, as to the voice in his head. “Ava said you and your friends would be here Hunter.” Lysander said. “She is such a great spy for us. A bounty hunter actually, and we pay her best.” You know, I always expected there to be a cliche somewhere in my life involving spies, I just wasn’t actually prepared for it. “SHUT UP!” Shadowshot yelled at the voice. Unknowingly he had said it with his real mouth. It was at this moment, that Shadowshot knew. He -blam!-ed up. Alright, jeeze. Someone’s clearly not in the mood. “Take this man to Palace, have him ready for the dinner by 2300 hours.” Lysander ordered to the Hunters “If he resists then execute him. Disintegration please, I don’t need anymore bloodstains on my carpet.” Hey Shadowshot, do me a favor after killing me right? DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE DIE. Because if you die, then I die. Like, for real. Don’t ask me how it works, it just does. “WHO ARE YOU?” Shadowshot yelled, again unknowingly using his mouth . The two Hunters stared. The first one escorted him aboard Lysander’s ship. Seriously? You don’t remember the person that you killed about an hour or so again? Come on. “Artemis?” SS asked. He was confused and concussed by Lysander. No. Clearly I’m not Artemis. I must be another person you’ve killed recently with Taken powers. “Shut up already!” The second Concordat Hunter said. He then continued. “And especially shut up about that stupid Huntress. We don’t want to be forced to kill you.” Stupid. Right. This is the stuff I actually have to sit through when I die. MEANWHILE: --The Tower, Cayde’s Secret meeting room behind the Exotic Weapons terminal, The Last City-- “So you see?” We have all everything we need for success! All we need is for Amanda to put ‘stargazing’ on the logs of 77 ships from the combined fleets of New Monarchy, dead Orbit, and the FWC.” Cayde said. He smirked, metal joints clashing. “This sounds like a suicide mission.” Eris said. “I love it!” “That time we blew your ship up was a suicide mission as well.” “And so was the time I went into the Hellmouth to face Crota.” Amanda interrupted the conversation now. “Cayde, how do you expect me to falsely log 77 ships of the fleet for stargazin’?” She moved her hand through her hair. “Sure maybe one ship can be logged out but half the fleet? Shoot, that’s like asking me to date Eris.” “Then ask her out.” Cayde responded. Amanda looked over to the exo. “What?” Eris put her orb on the table. “Request denied.” The eyeless woman walked towards the door. “I asked.” Amanda said. “I saw.” Cayde said. “You didn’t have to ask. I just needed a reason to get you to log out those ships.” “Why you little…” Amanda stopped. She didn’t want to hurt Cayde. Why would she? (ABOUT 6 MINUTES LATER) The speakers of the tower went off. “Alright, hey… one second..” Cayde stopped and took the headset off. “What do I say?” “How many times have we been over this, Cayde?” said Amanda. “Wait, can I even use this thing? I kinda got in trouble last time, with the sparrow and what not.” “Just use it before Zavala gets back here!” “Right. Ooh. Okay then. Right.” Cayde said to himself as he put on the headset. “Yeah hey everyone, this is Cayde-6 of the Tower Vanguard. Uhh- I realize this is an abuse of the Tower PA… AGAIN. But it’s been like a year or two, so I think I’m good now. Anyway, uhh. Yeah this is an announcement.” Cayde stopped. He heard yells from plaza. The would include: “I DIDN’T KNOW THIS WAS AN ANNOUNCEMENT! THANKS FOR ENLIGHTENING ME!” “Who are you?” “Not this again.” “Rrrrright. Anyway…” Cayde continued. “Uhh right, I am requesting that 76 pilots make their way to hangar. Okay thanks. BYE!” Cayde turned around to Amanda and dropped the headset. “How did I do?” He asked the Tower Shipwright. Amanda grinned. “You did good. Now let’s get to that Hangar!” As Amanda walked away, Cayed said, “She said I did good. Huh.” --Paris Base-- Bullets pounded the sides of the ship. Shinoda loaded his Nova Mortis. “You know what Strenu?” Shinoda asked as he fired at the Concordat troops outside. Strenu turned around to face Shinoda. He kept firing his Haakon’s Hatchet. “What Shinoda? What do I know?” “Well maybe, it’s just a thought but maybe we would be in better conditions if you didn’t kick Shadowshot out!” “Well, he.. Actually, you do have a point…” Aricebo tossed the team Ammo Synthesises. “Take em’!” She yelled as she fired her Extremophile out the cockpit window. Quinn just stood still sniping the enemies. Logan was giving off Weapons of Light and generally doing nothing. Quinn jumped from the cockpit alongside Aricebo. “THEY BROUGHT A TANK TO A GUNFIGHT PEOPLE! Concentrate all fire on it!” Quinn hollered. Strenu ran out from the ship. He fired his Abbadon at the Concordat soldiers. “Let’s move team!” Strenu ordered. “Hit that tank once you get out!” As the team ran out from the ship, they fired at the tank. In the end only Logan and Aricebo were left in the ship. And that was where they would stay, for it was to be their graves. The tank opened all fire at the ship. Within seconds it exploded into shrapnel and flames.
