I think you're actually being genuine but you are really ignorant right now.
The intense scrutiny you're observing is nothing more then the media's intensely bitter partisanship.
They gave bush the same treatment for his eight years and didn't hold Obama to the same level of scrutiny very evident on foreign policy alone which was given really nice spin under Obama but rightly denounced as war crimes and abuses of power under Bush despite the fact that Obama largely continued Bush's policies... including the ones that led to the death of Osama bin Laden.

Aye, but partisan as it may be, it certainly gets rid of the chronic apathy that engulfed politics in recent memory. Once folk are engaged, then they can start to learn what each side stands for, and hopefully see the positives that each side can bring. Hopefully.

Not really because people aren't any more engaged now than they have been. But one of the positive things about a trump presidency is he will be held to high amount of scrutiny as an example he's not even in office yet and they already turn phrase long tweets into days of news coverage. This if nothing else at the very least means Trump wont be able to get away with half of the stunts Obama did and Hillary would have.

Nah theres a hell of a lot more interest in politics, the intense scrutiny is part and parcel of that. The next 4 years should be interesting, to put it mildly.
