If I Was The One Who Designed Xur
So, Xur's pretty boring now.
All he does is show up in the Reef or tower and sell shit items.
If Xur was designed by BraveCole? He'd work a little like this.
Xur will no longer come on weekends. His appearance will be completely random, but consistent.
When Xur randomly arrives into the world of Destiny, on your Destiny Companion App and when you log into orbit, you will get a very vague message.
[b][i]A Jovian Presence is lurking in the system...[/i][/b]
Xur will now spawn in either of the six [b]Patrol[/b] locations. (Cosmodrome, Plaguelands, Moon, Venus, Dreadnaught, Mars)
When you spawn into the [b]Patrol[/b] location that Xur resides in, your ghost will say this line of dialogue:
[i]"Picking up a strange energy signal.. I can't pinpoint the exact location. Maybe we should take a look around?"[/i]
This is when you know Xur is hiding somewhere in the area.
You'll look in the area and when you spawn into a specific zone(random zone each visit) a public event will start.
This public event will be any of the events that normally happen in their respective patrol zones, but it will be named differently, to inform you that this is the event that will spawn Xur. It will say:
[b][i]Impress The Nine.[/i][/b]
And along with your ghost saying the usual public event dialogue, he will say:
[i]"I have a feeling we're being watched.."[/i]
After the public event is completed, Xur, Agent of The Nine will appear. He will now act as a vendor in this respective zone. Along with his usual dialogue, he will say:
[i]"The Nine were right about you. Here are my wares, they are gifts from the Nine. My will is not my own."[/i]
Xur's inventory will be random each time, much like it is now. However, he will now also sell items(along with the items and consumables he sells now) that are exclusive to Xur. Things like legendary Xur/Jovian themed armor sets for strange coins, ornaments for said armor sets, exclusive consumables and weapons, ghost shells, sparrows, and as usual, an Exotic. He could also give out exclusive exotic quests.
This is just one of my ideas that in my opinion, would make Xur a more fun and lively addition to the Destiny world. What do you Think?

I would say rather than he appear after the patrol a waypoint on your map appears and it takes you to a non combat area.

Idk about the public event. Made me chuckle how extra that is. Im with him being in a patrol area though. Put him in a safe area so you dont have bullets banging into the back of your skull while shopping ^.^

All they have to do is have him bring different ledgendaries with him too. Then sell an artifact that allows you to reroll the perks a max of 3 times on those legendaries. I mean how sweet would it be if xur brought a felwinters lie or vision of confluence. That's sweet idea

8 RepliesUnfortunately, you cannot have xur both appear randomly [i]and[/i] consistently, the two are nearly mutually exclusive. I.E. If he randomly came on Tuesday, then showed up on Thursday, then showed up on Wednesday, that would be random, but highly inconsistent. Otherwise great post

Like the idea to earn the privilege to buy from him, BUT, Once you find him can we revisit without repeating.? Dont like the idea of finding him, going through the effort to trade and then realising you forgot the currency, or have full armor/weapon slot and having to go through the whole thing again. His inventory would need some reworking, so we don't have to do all this for simple stuff like heavy ammo. Sitting in a patrol zone getting shot by minions while I spend 10mins buying ammo from him doesnt sound great.
