"Under the influence of the taken power, the taken spread their blight to infect others until all their people are taken as well" The Taken is NOT a virus where one infected can infect others like zombies Only Oryx can "Take"

  • True. But they do spread blight to absorb more into their ranks. It's a corruption.

  • Sorry, yeah, I'm wrong. They spread the blight to weaken targets in a given area so they can be taken. However the more powerful taken (when a king is absent) can probably just use a blight to turn a target on their own if they wanted too. (Such as Malok and his blighted shrine)

  • "Oryx wields this power. But Oryx did not make it. We face the same flower we met in the Black Garden." - The Taken

  • We are specifically talking about the "taken" power and the ability to spread it. Not some similarity, or causal link, between the black garden and the taken power. There has never been any evidence suggesting that the power which ORYX wields can be passed from one infected victim to another. He acquired this power by wrestling it from the deep, and wrought it upon tablets which no others possess. In fact, we have Grimoire cards to the contrary.

  • Ok I see what you mean, you are focused on that specific sentence, which I agree isn't how the Taken spread, but that mistake aside the theory is intriguing.

  • Absolutely. I thoroughly enjoy a good theory. But a good theory needs to have its base in facts as we know them, then you are free to get as creative or wild as you want

Yes, only Oryx can "take". The Guardians defeated The Taken King. But if he is dead, then why, and how do the taken keep coming back? For example, the Nexus revisited.
