I was lucky, in that the Walmart I work at got a shipment literally the minute I got off work. I kinda felt bad for buying it, because there are undoubtedly plenty of people more hyped than I, but then again on the other hand, I'm glad it didn't fall into the hands of someone who resells it for way more money than it's worth.
I was actually debating on selling it on Ebay for a really low price (like $5-$10) as an act of good will, but in addition to the fact that I have no idea how to ship things, the people who would take it, and sell it again for $300 would completely ruin the gesture. : /

Buy something for $60 and sell it for $10? when you work at Walmart and don't even make 10 an hour..
-
I actually make $10.55 per hour. ^-^ But I'd actually give it away for free if I knew anyone who'd want it, that I know wouldn't just resell it. :)
-
Yeah but after taxes its like 8 bucks haha just sayin. at that point theres no reason to buy it. I highly doubt you would give it away anyway. people say random shit on the internet for no reason and this is no exception. you bought it because you personally wanted it. end of story
-
Indeed. I bought it because I wanted it, and because it happened to be there. I bought it for selfish reasons, of course. Humanity & selfishness only come in bundle packages, after all! But I was perfectly willing to wait and buy it whenever. I know I won't play it much, just like my Atari Flashback. There are so many people out there who want it more than me, and if I knew one, I would gladly give it to them. I'm by no means short on cash, $60 isn't that big a deal to me, and I would gladly spend that much to make a person happy. ^-^ Of course, it's not so little of a deal that I could gift something like that very often, but once is nothing. :) Of course, it's also not like you have to believe me, and who knows, maybe if I was actually faced with the situation it'd play out differently than in my head, but at the very least I think I would.

You're disgustingly nice my friend. Nothing but respect from me. I woulda bought it and sold it for some quick cash lol
-
No, I'm happy to have my third copy of Kirby's Adventure, so I'll keep it. :) Even so, though, I wish I could've made someone happy by giving it away. Just imagine the look on a little kids face, as they unwrap it, and their parents/grandparents sit with them as they play, talking about how they loved those games as a kid. If I could've made a heartwarming memory for someone like that I would've given it away no question! ^-^

Hey! Walmart worker bros! *high fives* Yeah, asked at least a dozen stores and they all basically said the same thing, that Nintendo botched this launch by not gauging demand beforehand. Already have most of the offered games in one form or another though, so it's not much consequence for me.
-
it's not that they made a mistake, it's just a shitty business tactic. they can increase demand if they create an artificial scarcity, thus manipulating the market and opening the door for ebay scalpers.
-
They did the same thing with the Wii, I believe.
-
People who buy hot items to resell for a higher price on Ebay are low people in my opinion.
-
I agree.
-
Did walmart change the price of it or is it still 500 bucks?
-
It's $60 EBay scalpers were selling it for that.
-
500? Wtf. They cost $80 here in Canada
-
The day it came out both online and in store the price was 499 for the NES. Walmart is the king of price gouging. The sad part was, it was sold out there. It's astounding that people would pay such a ludicrous price for something so cheap.
-
It was only ever $60 at my store. :T
-
I just checked both website and my local store. It seems someone made them aware of their "greed " and put the price at what it needs to be.
-
Huh.. Weird, I only ever saw it for $60, and I was there for our first shipment.
-
That's ridiculous.
