Just want to remind everyone that if any other game had put in as many microtransactions and expensive dlc as Destiny had, that game would've been crucified on the spot. Imagine if halo or the titanfall had done what destiny did? On top of having a story that wasn't that good AND having a lack of engaging content. Smh I don't know what it is and why people keep letting bungie slide

  • Follow me here. Destiny was a brand-new IP under a brand-new publisher which was new territory for Bungie. For years Bungie worked under the wing of Microsoft, who I'm sure helped engineer the matchmaking system that existed before, in Halo. From this perspective, it is not unreasonable to assume that they wouldn't spend the initial investment to set up worldwide, regional servers that run game logic... Which leads me to today(addressing your initial statement) It was reported that Destiny made back in its entire investment in the first few minutes that the game was released... Now tack on all the DLC, and micro transactions. They launched this game with a peer-to-peer infrastructure(understandably and for the reasons I mentioned) but it has produced nothing but poor game play in both raids and multiplayer. At this time, based on past sales, they have a strong metric by which to gauge their investment in Destiny 2. They know that it's going to sell so I expect bigger, better, and more for the sequel. I believe a bigger vision requires that they pony up and invest in a back end for the game that can facilitate better, or hell, functional gameplay... As evidenced in the responses for this post that there is a significant number of people who don't give a shit and will buy whatever BUNGIE releases. I refuse.
