To be honest dedicated servers is what you think your solution to the problem of having a poor connection is. 95% of connection issues are your side of the modem. I almost never see lag. Dedicated servers is not the solution to your problem.

dedicated servers dont solve peoples crappy connections.
-
This.
-
You must be joking, either that or you don't understand dedicated servers.
-
Not joking and understand them perfectly. 😎
-
Well then you are misinformed.

Edited by abyssasylum: 12/13/2016 5:32:32 PMLol about what? Hey man call me misinformed or whatever... but the good news is that we own our own connections. Bungie can do their part by matching people better and assigning hosts to the best connections possible. We can do ours by eliminating wifi to our consoles and holding our internet providers accountable to deliver low latency not just bandwidth. The worst thing we can do is clamor about something like servers which would just drive up costs and not fix latency problems and people's own crappy connections. Even worse, that person complaining about lag and blaming it on lack of servers will not understand the problem properly, and not eliminate their own wifi. You, my friend, are the one misinformed.
-
Pmsl you have just proved you don't know what you are talking about.
-
Edited by abyssasylum: 12/13/2016 5:45:44 PMI don't think so... I provided a counter argument with reasons and explanation. You simply made a statement supported by nothing. You probably run wifi on your console too. Stubborn ignorant people like you are the main reason we have lag in these games. Lol... If you want to debate that's cool... explain to us why you think that Bungie spending money on a server in Seattle to host our matches will fix people's crappy internet connections? I'm in Phoenix and my friends are in LA and Dallas... we all have good high quality wired connections and never experience lag when playing with each other. why would I want a computer in Seattle hosting my match?!
-
No I don't run WiFi lol and you just keep proving time after time you don't know what you are talking about. I don't have time to explain it to a simpleton.
-
Ok cheers bro have a nice day!
-
Edited by Airboy: 12/13/2016 12:21:08 PMI have upload of 194mb/s and 200mb/s download. In my matches always i have 3 red bars minimum... So its my fault?!
-
You are confusing bandwidth with latency. 20 or even 10 Mbps is just fine as long as you have less than 50ms ping... and the other people in your fireteam also have this.
-
It wouldn't destroy Destiny to have service either. Not just our fault there is lag and problems with destiny. Look at both sides equally stop favoring one.
-
Bungie can improve matchmaking. We can improve our connections.

Edited by Iroh II: 12/12/2016 11:46:15 PMJust read your condo with the other guys, I hope you have a better idea of how this game and it's lack of servers works
-
Edited by abyssasylum: 12/13/2016 5:08:39 PMI understand that servers would not fix the problem. 😎 Two things would: 1. People stop clamoring for servers and instead ensuring they have the best connections possible. 2. Bungie reducing SBMM even further favoring connection instead.
-
You have barely played this game and have no sbmm to worry about.
-
Edited by abyssasylum: 12/12/2016 11:19:46 PMNah it's my alt account. Why do you think I made an alt?
-
Of course it is....
-
Sure is... but not sure why it would matter anyway. My connection is good regardless of which account I play. 😎
-
Wrong. There's plenty of players with 100+ Mbps wired connections that still see just as many issues as a <20 Mbps wireless.
-
100mbps refers to how wide your connection is, which has nothing to do with how a game plays." Unless you are bumping up against that limit. The thing you need to focus on is latency, and how consistent your latency is. People don't undetstand this, so they blame the game and bungie for it...
-
A ping test isn't an effective measurement for how your connection translates in-game. Unless everyone tests off the same server, you can't compare it.
-
Edited by abyssasylum: 12/12/2016 7:23:54 PMCorrect... I run a test that measures my connection speed to a server nearby. In my case, the server is in Phoenix, which is 12 miles away. This way I can rule out any issues on my end because I know that my ping to a nearby server is solid.
-
Edited by GrundleBeans: 12/12/2016 11:16:47 PMExcept 1) that's not how you play on p2p, so your best connection stats from a nearby server while you're not playing a match and/or not under load and without looking at your worst connection stats is not accurate information to go by, and 2) you're not guaranteed a dedicated server to Destiny will be anywhere within 12 miles from your house or that your connection will go directly to it without any routing. We're also not guaranteed lag-free matches when there are fireteams of people playing together from different parts of the world.
