Iron Banner Rift: A Proposed Change
I personally do not enjoy Rift as a game mode by itself, let alone Iron Banner(IB) Rift. My reasoning for this is the need for a six man Fireteam. Though I have won some matches going in solo, it feels (though its not) as though I have no chance and I will always lose. I've found that in Rift if you have a six man team and the other team doesn't ( or consists of smaller Fireteams) that you will almost always win. As Bungie is likely going to continue with Rift as a playlist for IB I would like to propose a compromise. My compromise is to have two Iron Banner Rift options for guardians to choose. The two options being:
1.Iron Banner Rift
2. Iron Banner Freelance Rift
The latter of these (IB Freelance Rift) simply being that you must enter the game mode in a Fireteam of one/by yourself. There is obviously a portion of the Destiny Community that enjoys this playlist so eliminating IB Rift is not something that is likely to happen. Hopefully with this compromise the burden of the road to rank five will be reduced drastically.

I would love the option of regular and freelance IB because it would let people play how they wanted with a fair chance of success

I HATE being in a group of randoms against 6 clan members on a team. You can't possibly replicate that kind of communication and even a fairly average team of six can wreck a decent collection of single players with no comms. Especially in objective games where kills don't matter as much. I hated it when Bungie did it in Halo. I hate it now in Destiny. Loners should play other loners.

1 ReplyRift is actually enjoyable the only time it is not enjoyable is when people don't work together as a team or play the objective. Bungie won't change ib just cause 3 out of ten people won't like playing and working together as a team if the rewards were placement based and not rng people would play and get stuck in more than just sit back and do nothing. I for one like rift has nothing to do with kd I just like objective gameplay.

I think if people would just their damn headsets and communicate, then randoms is fine. I never understood why people don't communicate in first person shooter

I just don't care about Rift. I find it a rubbish game mode so I'm just not bothering this week. On a brighter note, it's given me time off to play Modern Warfare Remastered and I'm quite enjoying it. I'll be back next week for SRL but I don't feel guilty about not playing this Iron Banner when I know that I wouldn't really have enjoyed it. I don't need any of the rewards either.

Rift is absolute cancer in its current state. Every game comes down to who can spawn camp better and who has the runner with the more god mode lag (even with todays update). It is great on paper but implementation has been beyond awful.

Rift is a complete flop in it's current state, only Salvage being even worse somehow. Should be removed. There're plenty of classic modes. Bring CTF or Assault instead.

Just did a couple matches with a friend, got wrecked the first match but got back in and secured a quick victory on the next. I didn't like rift much either but I'll still do iron banner no matter what the mode is. Reached rank 5 on all 3 my characters and still jumping into matches. Even if your proposal is considered, it would not be implemented immediately and next IB will be another mode anyways. Just try to enjoy it best you can for now until you get rank 5.

Honestly, I hear ya. I get that there should be a freelance IB that way there's a way that you basically can go in and have fun solo without being too outplayed. The regular IB playlist can stay how it is with its optimization for fire teams without having to dealing with the fact that many other players have the communication advantage. Or ya know, people will say LFG it, but, sometimes that's a 50/50 and can take STUPID amounts of time.
