Are updates secretly designed to mess up older devices?
This goes for game consoles, phones, and just about any other devices. I have 2 friends at work that swear that apple and google add special shit to their new updates to slow down and mess up older phones, just so that you run out and buy the new phone.
I haven't found any proof on this, but what do you think? If it's true, do you think M$ and Sony do the same thing with consoles in any way?

I've thought the same thing. My iPhone 4g sometimes has pulled out of apps I'm in and gets glitchy from time to time...but I've also looked at it like this, these phones are essentially computers that we leave on 24/7 and I can almost bet that if we were to turn the phones off every night before bed like we do with our pc's and consoles that the phones lifespan would dramatically improve. Very few things were intended to last a lifetime.
