How good is Skyrim (for PS4) and should I buy it?

Title says it all. I want to be either convinced or discouraged from buying this. I've never played this game before.

    • Don't be a sheep and make up your own mind about what games to get or not to get

A lot of people dragging that whole PC shit out as if everyone has a PC or knows how to use one well enough to get shit running nicely on it. No, I'd say if anything the 5 or so years of time have been a good thing. The game was already highly replayable last gen. Now it looks better which is a plus on consoles (and on PS4 it looks slightly better than X1), and a lot has been fixed in terms of annoying bugs and glitches. I've also noticed more characters pulled from the cutting board than last gen as well as more NPC dialogue. The mods PS4 CAN access still make the game better as well. Custom assets means anything not from the base game files cannot be used, this does not stop PS4 from getting amazing mods at all. Just CUSTOM MADE amazing mods, so things like any large quest lines or items completely out of the game. You can still grab the unofficial Skyrim patch and a few other mods to make the game a lot more streamlined in terms of graphics and gameplay. And plus, you could easily spend $60 going out with family or friends. Let's be real here and say that while it isn't exactly a small amount of cash, it is worth it if YOU want it to be. No one else can really tell you that. How much fun can you pull from it? Probably a metric fck ton.

    • What system? On PC I'd say yes because you'll have literally every mod available to you to make up for all its shortcomings (there are a lot as this is the most generic Elder Scrolls RPG Bethesda has ever released). On console, I'd say the remaster is definitely not worth $60 and you should wait for a price drop. It's a five year old game that only comes with updated graphics and mostly lackluster DLC. You can literally buy the Skyrim Legendary Edition (old GotY edition) on PC for $20. Much better deal than what they're currently trying to pull.

      • It's probably as good as when it came out for the last console with better graphics. Still a 5 yr old game tho

      • Don't only take logic into suggestion like a good amount of people are doing go with what you want also and feel is better Sure you may have bought it when it came out 6 or so years ago for 60$ but that's over 6 or so years ago The nostalgia and a lot of things being made better make it worth it. Mod side I'm starting to see some cool mods on PS4 like a daedric race mod that I'm sure as hell getting.

      • No, not if you own a PC or Xbox One. Both of those have external asset support and PC is obviously much better in every way
