Here's the thing, they will never change this system to one where you can just buy specific items. The reason for that is because too many people have and will continue to dump tons of money into Eververse in hopes of getting the item they're looking for. The best we can hope for is that they implement some form of smart loot that limits or gets rid of duplicates from silver purchases, but even that is unlikely. It is in no way gambling, but it's still super shady.

Wow, I did not realise there were so many people just throwing their money at Bungie for these 'cosmetics' - its mind blowing! Beginning to think we should have 100% free DLC as they seem to be making so much money from it! If they did this then perhaps the dark side of Bungie would not be so sinister! Happy Halloween!

They had smart loot on the SRL packages for sparrows, you couldn't get dupes and after unlocking them all that package couldn't be bought anymore. Funny how they reverted back to what we have again, guess they lost out on to much potential revenue with an honest business practice.

Yup, I'm willing to bet they looked at the revenue from MT's during SRL and felt it was too low. As a result you see the system we've got now. If you remember during TTK with the Taken or Chroma armor options, people dumped tons of money in because they kept getting dupes and never got what they were looking for. I saw online that a streamer bought over 110 treasures just to get a specific roll on the ghost ghost.
